Ecuador was home to one of the first settled ethnic groups in the Americas (Valdivia Culture) and has been home to a multitude of different cultures for centuries. Of the indigenous descendants of these cultures, 13 ethnic groups currently live in Ecuador, who have preserved their original traditions, festivals and customs intact until today. As diverse as the landscapes of the Andes and in the Rain Forest through which the journey leads, the people you will meet are very diverse. From the Otavaleños and Afro-Ecuadorians in the north, the Quichuas and Shuaras in the rainforest, to the Kichwa in the central Andes at the foothills of the mighty Chimborazo volcano, you will experience the diversity of fascinating cultures in Ecuador!
