Gain a delicious impression of Lima with this walking tour! You will not only explore the flavors of Peru’s capital, but also its contrasts. First, your guide takes you to a local market in Surquillo, the district bordering Miraflores, to admire exotic fruits and vegetables, try a fresh fruit juice, and learn about medicinal herbs. After this tropical experience, you head to a seafood restaurant to try the popular starter ‘leche de tigre’ (tiger milk) that has fish marinated in a citrus-based sauce, a delight!
Hopefully you are not full yet, because it is time for ice cream! The ice cream shop La Florentina has 20 amazing flavors of ice cream, among some interesting ones, like ginger. Next, you head to another market, this time the artisanal market in Miraflores, which is the city’s best place to shop for souvenirs. Instead of bringing you back to your hotel, the guide can also recommend you a top-notch restaurant for lunch, like La Tiendecita Blanca (lunch is not included in the price).

This half-day city tour starts at Lima’s main square, where you can admire the Governmental Palace. You visit the Cathedral, where the conqueror Francisco Pizarro is buried, and its religious museum. Then, your guide takes you to the San Francisco Church and its monastery, which cloisters, and entrance hall are embellished with authentic tiles from Seville dating back to 1620. Also, remarkable are the church’ museum, the Zubaran room, and the library. The complex was built over underground catacombs which were used as cemeteries during colonial times.
Cathedral of Lima
Construction for the cathedral began in 1535, the same year the city of Lima was founded. Throughout the years, it withstood various earthquakes and underwent a lot of renovations. It is also where the conqueror Francisco Pizarro is buried, and its religious museum.
