From Salta to the high valleys of Cachi, Molinos and Bodega Colomé - wineries and Andes traditions
Departure in private vehicle with English-speaking guide to reach the small colonial village of Cachi located at 2 200m altitude, about 150km from Salta. We cross spectacular landscapes: the Quebrada de Escoipe, a large deep gorge where the green forests contrast with the ochre colour of the earth, the peeled mountains of the Cuesta del Obispo, the pass of the Piedra del Molino at 3 600m and then the Regional Park of Los Cardones, arid lands spiked with candelabra cacti... Cachi is a peaceful Indian village with low whitewashed houses, where the church of San Jose, dating from the 18th century with its carved cactus wood roof, stands. We will visit the Mira Luna vineyard. You will be invited to a tasting of the typical wines of this arid region: here, the temperature range and the altitude are two factors that make the wines unique. Bodega Miraluna will offer you wines of great character thanks to an explosive mix of fruits. The bodega is very small and has managed to preserve its charm and authenticity: however, it has the technique and technology to develop the best red wine at high altitude. In the middle of the vineyards, enjoy the time that seems to stop in the immensity of the landscape, at the foot of the Andes mountain range, accompanied by a small glass of wine. Then we reach the small village of Molinos dating back to 1659. Here you will discover the majestic church and the elegant farmhouse of Isasmendi, who was the last governor of the city of Salta. We continue to the Bodega Colomé. Visit to the James Turrell Museum at your arrival in Colomé: Among the vineyards located at the highest altitude in the world in the Calchaquí Valley is the only museum dedicated exclusively to the work of the prestigious American artist James Turrell. James Turrell (California, 1943) is a world-renowned artist of light and space whose works can be found in collections all over the world. Night at the Bodega Colomé in a room with a view of the garden and vineyard.
