Salt was extracted from these mines from Inca times on and the same method has been used ever since. You then head to Moray. The circular terraces hidden among the hills are similar to a Greek amphitheater. Surrounded by an impressive backdrop of snow covered mountains, Moray was used as an open-air agricultural lab for adapting crops to different environmental conditions.

Lunch (Set menu) includes starter, main course and dessert, tea/infusion.

Day 5

place MACHU PICCHU

Early in the morning, you will be picked up by our local representative and transferred to the Ollantaytambo train station to board Peru Rail’s Vistadome service.

Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes you will be greeted by your guide who will assist you onto the shuttle bus to the citadel’s entrance. For centuries, Machu Picchu remained undiscovered by the Spaniards until American explorer Hiram Bingham found it in 1911. On a guided tour, you'll experience the site's unique location and ingenious construction, making it one of the seven new wonders of the world.

Your Machu Picchu ticket (Circuit 2A Classic) provides access to the classic circuit, which encompasses both the agricultural and urban sectors of the site. Along the route, you'll encounter iconic landmarks such as the Inca quarry, the Sun Temple lookout point, the Sacred Stone, the storages known as Qolqas, the Temple of the Condor, and the Guard House.

Entrance tickets to Machu Picchu must be purchased in advance. Priority will be given to issuing tickets for Circuit #2A (Classic). If no spaces are available, Circuit #2B (Lower Terrace) or Circuit #3B (Royalty Route) will be selected instead.

Lunch at Café Inkaterra. Café Inkaterra is one of the restaurants of Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo and the one for visitors not staying at the hotel. The restaurant, located next to Machu Picchu train station, blends Andean food with contemporary cuisine. Cafe Inkaterra is situated under a traditional Amazonian palm-thatched roof and is decorated with local crafts. The decoration transmits the fusion of the two elements given in this place: Andean, Inca architecture legacy in the cloud forest.

Lunch (Set menu) includes starter, main course and dessert, complimentary water.

In the late afternoon, you’ll walk to the local train station to board the Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo, where our representative will be waiting to assist you and transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Furthermore, Transit Control Card is needed to enter the Galapagos , please complete the purchase (US $ 20), following the steps below before your flight: Visit the official website: https://siig-cgreg.gobiernogalapagos.gob.ec/tct/emission?lang=en. On the way, you will enjoy a tour of the highlands of Santa Cruz, visiting the Twin Craters, impressive lava formations that appeared during a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago, and are now covered by rich forest ecosystems. The endemic woodpecker finch, considered a holy grail of evolution, can be seen in these areas using tools to feed.

Subsequently you will visit a ranch visited by giant Galapagos tortoises. Since these magnificent reptiles do not stop their migrations at the official boundaries of the National Park, dozens of them enter the private properties on the island, taking mud baths, devouring fallen fruit and carrying birds in their shells.
