Arrive in the morning hours in Asmara and our English speaking tour guide will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer you to our office to discuss the itinerary. The trip to Massawa starts in the afternoon with a drive on the Massawa – Nefasit-Route from Asmara towards the east. You drive from 2400 meters above sea level to Massawa at sea level in about 3 hours. Visitors will experience three different climate zones along the way – cool, temperate, and hot. After breakfast, we’ll visit the most interesting and unusual places in Massawa. Massawa enjoys a combination of Turkish and Italian Architects, an apparent indication of the Ottoman and Italian colonial history. There is, among others, an old Turkish Palace and the Modern Port built by the Titians at the turn of the 20th Century. A great attraction to many visitors. After breakfast, we’ll visit the splendid camel market, a large affair, where local tribesmen come to sell their animals. Whilst we are in Keren we will see the WWII graves of the British and Commonwealth troops who at great cost defeated the Italians here. The Italian cemetery is worth pausing at: there we’ll find the graves of men who died making and defending the Italian colony. In the afternoon we will leave Keren in the early evening and set off for Asmara. Late in the evening transfer to airport for departure. End of Tour!!!
