Ljubljana - The vibrant capital by bike
What a great way to explore Ljubljana on wheels! Not only are the main attractions, located in the pedestrian zone but a unique opportunity to cover a wider area without skipping the cozy stops where locals enjoy soaking up the city vibe. Meet your private guide and hop on a comfortable fat-tire stylish beach cruiser bicycle and enjoy Ljubljana from a different perspective. Meet your guide in front of Hotel Cubo Ljubljana where bikes will be provided. The main advantage of exploring the lively capital on two wheels is the ability to see interesting places outside of the pedestrian city center, such as the beautiful Ljubljanica River embankments, abandoned military objects, and beautifully arranged lush green park areas. Cycling is easy and smooth on Ljubljana flat terrains. Cruise through the city’s hidden narrow streets, stop to see the major attractions, explore the Roman remains and architectural wonders scattered all over the city. Visit some of the most interesting districts of Ljubljana and have fun discovering different vibes as you wander the paths that only locals know about. For the cherry on top? We take you for a drink in the center to soak up Ljubljana’s vibrant atmosphere!
Guide: Included for the day
Kamnik and Velika Planina mountain plateau with unique shephards's huts
Green pastures of the Velika Planina plateau with traditional herdsmen's huts, surrounded by scenic views of the Kamnik Savinja Alps. First stop at the Velika Planina cable cabin that will take you up on the mountain plateau with its green pastures and typical and unique architecture of more than 50 shepherd's huts. Visit the Preskar Hut Museum, the only preserved example of a typical oval Velika Planina hut in Slovenia. After ascending from the plateau we head to Kamnik, one of the loveliest and oldest towns in Slovenia, surrounded by the beautiful Kamnik Savinja Alps. A pleasant orientation walks around the old town past its unique architectural features. The tour continues to the source of the Kamniska Bistrica River, one of Slovenia’s clearest rivers and the valley’s most mesmerizing natural sight: the gorges of Mali and Veliki Predaselj. Transfer back to Ljubljana or continue directly to our next destination - Bled.
Admire the natural canyon Vintgar Gorge & Slovenia's largest glacial lake Bohinj
After a short drive from Ljubljana discover the famous Alpine jewels of lakes Bled & Bohinj along with the Vintgar Gorge. Sports enthusiasts can opt for rafting on the Sava river (optional). Make one last stop at a hidden gem, the medieval Skofja Loka town, before returning to Ljubljana. From Ljubljana to the Alpine region below the Julian Alps we reach Bled, the magnificent Alpine resort. Ascend the old castle perched on top of a cliff above the glacial Lake Bled. The castle's terraces offer spectacular views of the lake and its tiny island in the middle. Take a boat ride with »Pletna« a traditional flat-bottom boat made by locals and reach the only true island in Slovenia. For the best view and most amazing pictures of Bled Lake together with its island and the Castle, climb up to Ojstrica view- point before continuing to the impressive Vintgar Gorge, one of the most stunning natural canyons, where a path takes you across the wooden platforms and bridges along the rushing Radovna River and through the picturesque gorge. This pleasant hike ends with a 13-meter-high waterfall Sum. Our next stop is Bohinj, Slovenia's largest glacial lake, located in the Triglav National Park area. Take a swim, a canoe ride, or just a pleasant walk around the lake area to soak in Bohinj's pristine natural environment. Return back to Bled later in the afternoon.
Pearls of the Alpine region together with magical Kozjak Waterfall
From Bled head on to the highest Slovenian mountain pass, Mt. Vrsic, with amazing views of the Julian Alps. Possible stop in Kranjska Gora (Jasna Lake, Zelenci Nature reserve, ...) on the way to Soca Valley. Several sites on the way crossing the mountain pass Vrsic are marked by this important historical event, offering unique views of a ropeway conveyor, pitfalls, the Russian Chapel, the Kluze Fortress, various military via ferrata, and many other unspoiled features of great natural and historical value. Land in the beautiful Trenta valley and continue to Bovec, a melting pot of superb natural attractions. The village is famous for the emerald green alpine Soca River scenery and has grown into a highly appreciated Slovenian extreme sports center. In case you want to test your adrenaline skills we definitely recommend a white water rafting session. One final stop at Kozjak Waterfall and late afternoon transfer to Goriska Brda wine region for the overnight.
Goriska Brda wine region by e-bike and listen to the stories of local wine- makers
Today is a cycling day and time to explore the stunning Goriska Brda wine region. After sharing plans over a cup of coffee your private local guide will show you what Brda is truly known for amazing nature, warm people, crisp wines, and simple but flavorful food. And he will show you all that from a bike, taking you along the winding trails through the vineyards making sure the rebula, local white variety, will become your new favorite. Time for some refreshment, additional sightseeing (Charming Smartno village, Gonjace tower, ...), and optional wine degustation or wine-paired dinner in one of the well-known local restaurants.
