In the year 305, when Roman Emperor Diocletian, who ruled the known world at the time, decided to construct a palace for his retirement, he knew exactly where to build it. Located in the heart of Dalmatia, in the bay of Aspalathos (modern-day Split), the site was perfectly sheltered from the sea by the islands of the Split archipelago and protected on its landward side by towering mountains. Here, Diocletian marked a special point on the map of the Adriatic — the future city of Split.

Kayaking is an excellent way to explore and discover the chain of 14 unspoiled Pakleni islands, which stretch for about 10 km and have a highly indented coastline with numerous beautiful bays and beaches. The islands are mostly covered with pine trees, which provide you with the necessary shade on hot summer days.

Depending on your personal preferences, the duration of the guided kayak tour and the weather conditions, your guide will suggest the best possible route for your kayak group. You do not need any previous kayaking experience and our experienced guide will teach you the kayaking techniques you need to feel safe and comfortable in the water. The guide will also show you the best snorkelling spots so you can enjoy the rich underwater Hvar flora and fauna.

The walking tour typically begins at Pile Gate, the main entrance to Dubrovnik's Old Town. This grand gate is surrounded by the impressive city walls and has a large drawbridge, making it a perfect place to kick off the exploration. You'll learn about Dubrovnik’s historical defences and early settlement.

Walk through Stradun, the main street of the Old Town, a wide limestone-paved thoroughfare that stretches from Pile Gate to the eastern gate. Walking along Stradun, you’ll pass some of the city’s most iconic buildings, such as the Church of St. Blaise and Onofrio’s Fountain, a grand 15th-century fountain that once supplied the city with water. A highlight of the walking tour is a visit to the Rector’s Palace. This Gothic-Renaissance building once served as the residence of the rector, the governor of Dubrovnik.
