Day 3

place Barcelona - Montserrat - Alquezar (Pyrenees)

Today morning, our driver will transfer you to collect your rental car. You will self drive to the medieval village of Alquezar. On the way to Alquezar, I would like to suggest a stop in the Monserrat mountain and monastery. Montserrat is Catalonia’s most emblematic mountain. Topped by a Benedictine Monastery, it is also one of the most relevant pilgrimage places in our country. On the way to the Monastery, you will admire the Massif of Montserrat, a spectacular multi-peaked rocky range packed of unique needle-shape formations. Upon arrival, you can visit the Monastery, which was founded in the 10th century and it is still run by over 150 monks. It is also well-known for hosting the figure of La Moreneta (the dark one), who is the patron saint of Catalonia. After lunch, you can continue driving towards the Village of Alquezar, which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Pyrenees and in Spain. It is so well preserved that walking around its streets is like traveling back in time. Upon arrival in Alquezar, just relax walking around this beautiful village and down to its ravine, enjoying the blend of its historical and natural landscape. If you are very adventurous, you can even have a bath in the cold water of the river. Overnight at your accommodation

The fastest one is not as beautiful as the slowest one, though. On the way, I would suggest that you stop in Ainsa, another beautiful medieval village. Once in Broto, you will meet our guide for a tour of the lookouts of Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. You will go on a 4x4 ride up to the top, from where you will enjoy a hiking experience along the best viewpoints of the National Park. Get ready for amazing views that will become lifetime memories. (*If this winery was not available, we would pick a similar one). After this first deep visit of a winery, you will get to 2 other wineries, from Classical Rioja wineries to small boutique family owned ones, hopping in to their wine bars, to taste the best wines of each winery. 2 to 4 wines will be served in each winery, and those wines will always be over 90 Parker Points For lunchtime, we will head to a winery, where you will be served a traditional Riojan style Hot & Cold tapas based meal paired with Rioja red wine. Day 11

place San Sebastian - Basque Coast - Bilbao

Today our driver/guide will pick you up to take you along the charming villages and natural spots of the Basque Coast. Along the way, you will discover a stunning natural coast where mountains merge with the sea and the fishing villages whose life is totally linked to the sea. You will visit the charming fishing village of Getaria. It is probably one of the most treasured medieval centers which best reflects the passing of time. You will also make a halt in Zumaia, where you will take a walk of 30 minutes for a nice spot to discover an amazing place where mountains drop steeply to sea level, with wonderful views and singular rock formations. You will also follow the Basque history in Guernica. During the Spanish Civil War, this town was razed to the ground by German aircraft, sent by Hitler to support Franco's troops. When Picasso painted the Guernica in 1937, could not imagine that its vision of the bombing would become an antiwarlike symbol. Finally, you will visit San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an awe-inspiring island located just off the shore along the Bay of Biscay and connected to the mainland by a man-made stone bridge. The views to and around the island are simply beautiful. At the highest point of the island, there is a tiny church dedicated to John the Baptist. The island also has an intriguing history. You will have lunch in one of the local restaurants along the coast. (Lunch not included) Upon arrival in Bilbao, check-in your hotel and free time to explore this city and its Guggenheim Museum.
