From the historical buildings, you will visit the cathedral dating from the 19th century and the Cabildo which houses the picturesque Historical Museum of the North. You climb to the Cerro San Bernardo to enjoy a panoramic view of Salta. Then you discover the recent and very interesting MAAM museum (Museo Archelogia de Alta Montaña) which exhibits mummies found at more than 6000 meters above sea level. Salta - Purmamarca - Tilcara- Humahuaca- Cerro Hornocal- Purmamarca
Early morning departure (around 7am) for a long crossing of the Humahuaca Valley. After 180 km of road, we make our first stop in Purmamarca, which means village of the Holy Land in Aymara language. This village is famous for its 7-coloured mountain "Cerro de los siete colores", a kind of mineral rainbow. We continue our Andean route and arrive after about twenty kilometers in Pucará de Tilcara, a pre-Hispanic Omaguaca village dating back more than 900 years. Visit of the site and the museum's remarkable collections. It houses mummies, funeral vases, jewelery and other objects from archaeological sites in northwestern Argentina. Stopover at Humahuaca village located at 2940m, which was one of the most important trading centres in Upper Peru. Continuation to Hornocal where you will have a magnificent panoramic view of the mountain in 14 colours. Purmamarca - Salinas Grandes- San Antonio de los Cobres- Tolar Grande
Departure in the morning from Purmamarca for Puna Salteña. Via the cuesta de Lipán we reach Salinas Grandes. A vast white expanse that contrasts sharply with the pure blue sky. You are in the middle of one of the largest salt deserts in Argentina (1,200 km2). Lunch in San Antonio de los Cobres, the largest village in the Puna. After crossing the salar de pocitos, you arrive at los colorados where you will walk for 45 minutes to admire the landscape up to a panoramic point that allows you to take pictures of the diablo desert and the 7 curvas: characteristic landscapes of Tolar Grande. Tolar Grande is a small village of 300 inhabitants located between impressive mountains and Arizaro salar. 350 km for 6 hours of travel Overnight at your accommodation

Tolar Grande- Laguna Santa Maria- El Arenal- Tolar Grande
We head west, road to the unknown Santa Maria Lagoon, located near the border with Chile. The road runs through a landscape of extreme aridity and beauty and climbs up to 4000 meters. The descent reveals the incomparable beauty of the lagoon with the Incahuasi volcano as a backdrop, duplicating its silhouette over the blue waters where they swim, walk and fly , ducks, White-winged coot and many pink flamingos during spring and summer. After lunch we will do trekking for 2:30h to the Arenal of Tolar Grande; this walk allows us to delight with the silence of the Puna and its mountains. We return to town, only this time to head into the Ojos de Mar Biological Reserve and know its stromatolites, these are stratified cellular structures, of just millimetres that release oxygen and take carbon dioxide; with 3,500 million years on Earth they are responsible for creating our ozone layer and filtering UV rays. We wait for the grandiloquent sunset over the Cordillera and celebrate that we are living and enjoying unique moments as these, with a good aromatic Salteño wine bottle. 130 Kms for 2,5 hours of travel / Walking time: 2:30 h Overnight at your accommodation

Tolar Grande- Cono Arita- Antofalla- Antofagasta de la Sierra
After crossing the Arizaro salar, we arrive after 1 hour of travel at the "Cono de Arita", a kind of slag heap with a perfect conical shape placed in the middle of the white expanse of the salar... the image is surprising! We continue due south to reach the hamlet of Antofalla located on the bank of the salar and enjoy the beautiful view. It is time to discover the Ojos de Campo, small lagoons of colours ranging from blue to red, and to have lunch. After lunch we cross the salar and reach the oasis of Antofagasta de la Sierra where we should meet many vicuñas in the middle of the volcanic cones of black and red ash. In the morning, you leave Antofagasta de la Sierra to join the Galán Volcano. You start an off-piste crossing of several hours to the crater. Hundreds of Andean flamingos and camelids can be observed near the lagoons you pass. It is one of the largest craters in the world, with a diameter of about 30 km, it shelters the Diamond Lagoon and the Cerro Galán. We will enjoy magnificent views of the Puna "catamarqueña". El Penon- Carachi Pampa- Campo de Piedra Pomez- El Penon
In the morning, departure due west to the Carachi pampa volcano, a necessary crossing point to reach the Piedra Pomez camp. The Carachi pampa volcano, about 350 m high, is composed mainly of basalt. It dominates the salar of carachi pampa 50 km2 wide, we will take advantage of it to walk near its lagoon and we may have the chance d ́observer of pink flamingos near. Then we go to discover the site of "Piedra Pómez", a field of pumice stones in French. This area is made up of dunes and volcanoes with contrasting white and black silhouettes. Over 25 kilometres stretch 5000 rocks sculpted by abrasive winds: an area highly prized by vulcanologists. A unique place in the world! We will enjoy magnificent views of the Puna "catamarqueña". This morning we leave La Puna and continue our journey to Cafayate. This village, located in the heart of the Calchaquies valley in the province of Salta, is internationally known for the quality of its wines, the mildness of its climate, the kindness of its inhabitants and the beauty of its landscapes. Cafayate- Molinos- Cachi
This morning we leave Cafayate and enter the Calchaqui Valley and its vineyards. Gradually, the greener views give place to a desert-like landscape as we cross the “Quebrada de las Flechas”, a geological formation featuring soaring rock arrows. Arrival in Molinos, a small colonial village that dates back to 1659, with an elegant and majestic church farm of Isasmendi, last governor of the city of Salta. We carry on until reaching the colonial town of Cachi, which lies at 2,200masl. Cachi is a tranquil Andean village featuring low-whitewashed houses and the San José Church with its sculpted roof of cactus-wood dating back to the eighteenth century. We visit the small archaeological museum, which has a wonderful collection of pre-Inca and Inca ceramics, especially those pertaining to the Santa María culture. Overnight at your accommodation

Cachi- Quebrada de Escoipe- Salta
Today, departure for Salta. We cross spectacular landscapes: the Regional Park of Los Cardones, arid lands bristling with candelabra cactus, the peeled mountains of the Cuesta del Obispo, the pass of the Piedra del Molino at 3600 m, then the Quebrada de Escoipe, a large deep gorge where the green forests contrast with the ochre color of the earth.
