Travel by deluxe bus on a shared basis along the scenic mountain highway from Kathmandu to Pokhara. After arriving in Pokhara, continue with your arrival transfer, then spend the rest of the day free to stroll around the Phewa lakeside area.

Phewa Lake is one of Pokhara’s best-known natural features and is closely associated with the city’s lakeside setting.

Trek to Ghandrung village, located at 1,950 meters on the lap of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli Mountain. As the biggest Gurung settlement on this route, Ghandrung includes a local village visit and museum visit focused on traditional Gurung culture and lifestyle.

At Kimrung Khola, visit the village settlement located beside the river before starting the uphill climb to Chomrung. On arrival, take in clear views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Fishtail Mountain from the village area.

After crossing this lower section, trek uphill for 1.5 hours to reach Sinwa. From there, follow the trekking trail carved inside the forest area, continuing through the wooded route until you arrive at Bamboo.

Bamboo sits on the Annapurna Base Camp trekking route within the Annapurna region, where forested trails connect the lower villages with higher Himalayan valleys.

From Doban, walk toward Himalaya, where the trail opens and gives your first close glimpse of Annapurna South. As you continue, the vegetation changes, the valley drops below, and steep rock cliffs surround the route. Reach Deurali, where the overnight stop is recommended to help reduce altitude sickness risk and allow your body to adjust to the increased elevation.

In Nepali, “khola” means river, which is why Modi Khola refers to the Modi River along this trekking route.

After time for lunch at base camp, continue uphill for another 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Annapurna Base Camp, the ultimate destination of the trek, at 4,130 meters above sea level. From here, you get a 360-degree view of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and other peaks. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the dramatic sunset view and surrounding landscape.

Machhapuchhre is also known as Fishtail because of its distinctive peak shape, which appears different depending on the viewing angle.

After breakfast, begin the 7-hour trek down to Doban. Follow the earlier route used on the ascent, retracing the same mountain corridor from Annapurna Base Camp as you descend toward the lower elevation of Doban.

Annapurna Base Camp sits inside a high mountain basin often called the Annapurna Sanctuary, surrounded by peaks of the Annapurna range.

Stop at Sinwa or Chomrung for lunch, then continue to Jhinu Danda with a downhill climb from Chomrung. If time permits and you are interested, take a short walk down to the Modi Khola riverbank to spend time at the hot spring and relax your muscles.

Natural hot springs in Nepal’s hill regions are commonly linked to geothermal water emerging through faults and fractures in the mountain landscape.

At Nayapool, board the vehicle for the 1-hour drive to Pokhara. After arriving in Pokhara, you are transferred to your hotel, completing the day’s sequence from mountain trail to road travel and arrival in the city.
