You arrive at Zvartnots International Airport, marking the start of your 10-day Armenia journey. The day is centered on arrival logistics, with no additional visits or activities listed before the transfer, so the sequence remains clear from the moment you land.


After arrival, continue with the transfer from the airport. This first travel step connects your flight arrival with the beginning of the program, leaving the day focused on settling into the trip before the scheduled activities that follow on the next day.

Day 2

place Day 2: Yerevan and Duduk | City Landmarks and Masterclass

Begin in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital and one of the oldest cities in the world, founded in 782 BC. As you explore the city center, visit Republic Square, the Opera House, Swan Lake, and Northern Avenue, described as the city’s most modern street.


Continue to the Cascade, a giant stairway with artworks displayed on each level of the complex. From the top, take in views of Yerevan and the biblical Mount Ararat. End the day with a local musician who introduces the basics of playing the duduk, an iconic wooden instrument, with the option to try it yourself. The evening is at leisure.


Yerevan is often called “the pink city” because many of its buildings are made from pink volcanic tuff.

Day 3

place Day 3: Faith and Local Flavors | Khor Virap, Etchmiadzin, and Zvartnots

After breakfast, travel one hour to Khor Virap Monastery, the closest point to Mount Ararat. Its name means “deep pit,” reflecting its historical significance. From this monastery, take in one of the most striking views of the biblical Mount Ararat.


Continue to Taperakan for a seasonal fruit-picking experience in local orchards, with fresh fruit picked straight from the trees. Then visit Etchmiadzin, the spiritual heart of Armenia, and the Mother Cathedral of Etchmiadzin, before exploring the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral. Return to Yerevan at the end of the day.


Zvartnots Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for remarkable 7th-century Armenian architecture.

Day 4

place Day 4: Living Heritage in Armenia | Wine, Stone Carving, and Village Life

Begin at Tatoent’s Qotuk, a historic stone house dating to 1837 and inhabited for generations by the Tumanyan family. Explore its seven-arched vaulted cellar and taste homemade wines in an intimate setting. Continue to Saghmosavank Monastery, a medieval site known as the “Monastery of the Psalms,” perched on cliffs overlooking the Kasagh River, with a peaceful atmosphere and remarkable architecture.


Travel to Vanadzor for a khachkar carving workshop led by master artisan Bogdan Hovhannisyan, where you learn about traditional Armenian cross-stones and observe local craftsmanship. Stop in Fioletovo, enter a traditional Molokan home, walk through the garden, and join a samovar tea ceremony with freshly baked pastries or cookies while discussing community traditions and daily life. End the day in Dilijan, known as the “Little Switzerland of Armenia” for its lush landscapes and calm atmosphere.


Khachkars are traditional Armenian cross-stones, and the workshop in Vanadzor focuses on this ancient craft.

place Day 5: Dilijan Artisan Traditions | Monasteries, Gata, and Woodcarving

After breakfast, head to Goshavank Monastery, a 12th-century medieval complex named after Armenian scholar, historian, and politician Mkhitar Gosh. Its setting in one of Armenia’s most picturesque areas gives the monastery a majestic view. Continue to Haghartsin Monastery, a mysterious monastic complex set high in the forested mountains, where architecture and nature come together.


Afterward, have lunch at a local guesthouse and learn how to prepare Gata, a famous Armenian sweet dessert. Walk along Sharambeyan Street in Dilijan’s town center, preserved as the heart of old Dilijan, with artisan workshops, galleries, and a museum. Visit a woodcarver’s workshop to observe traditional Armenian woodwork techniques. Optional, at an additional cost, take a horseback ride in Dilijan.


Sharambeyan Street is maintained as the historic center of old Dilijan, where traditional craftsmanship remains part of the town’s identity.

place Day 6: Lake Sevan and Khachkars | Cheese Traditions and Mountain Roads

Begin with a drive to Sevan, then climb the steps to Sevanavank Monastery, one of Armenia’s notable historical and cultural sites. Lake Sevan, known as the “Blue Pearl of Armenia,” is one of the world’s largest high-altitude freshwater lakes, with scenery especially striking from the peninsula.


Continue to Noratus, known for its ancient cemetery filled with khachkars, the carved stone crosses unique to Armenia. Visit Mikayelyan Family Farm to taste cheeses made by traditional methods and experience the family’s hospitality. Stop at Selim Pass, a historic mountain road with an ancient caravanserai, before arriving in Yeghegis.

After breakfast, travel to Vayots Dzor along the Arpa River, where master basket weaver Arthur Petrosyan introduces the art of willow weaving. Learn how willow branches are selected, soaked, and bent to form practical items, then begin weaving your own piece to finish at home.


Thereafter, head to Zorats Karer, known as the “Armenian Stonehenge,” and explore stone alignments dating back thousands of years. After lunch, ride the Wings of Tatev, the world’s longest aerial tramway, with views on the way to Tatev Monastery. End the day in Goris, a charming town with picturesque streets.

Continue to a family-run vineyard for a wine tasting featuring various local grape varieties, followed by a homemade lunch in a warm setting. Afterward, visit Noravank Monastery, known for Armenian religious art, its rare two-floor design, and its red rock cliff setting. Explore Areni cave, then set off for Yerevan and arrive in the evening.


Areni cave is noted for finds including the world’s oldest known leather shoe, ancient winemaking equipment, and a 6,000-year-old human brain.

Day 9

place Day 9: Geghard and Garni | Monasteries, Lavash, and Living Traditions

After breakfast, set off for Geghard Monastery, one of the most beautiful examples of Armenian medieval architecture. This unique monastic complex is partly carved into the rock and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the pagan temple of Garni, built in the 1st century AD and dedicated to Mihr, the Armenian pagan god of the Sun.


Have lunch at a local home with a lavash baking class, focused on the traditional Armenian bread inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. On the way, stop at the Symphony of Stones in the Azat Gorge. Then, optional, visit Ananets art studio, where local presenters share traditional songs, dances, and games before returning to Yerevan.
