place Drive to Delphi

No holiday in mainland Greece is complete without a trip to Delphi. Follow our local expert archaeologist guide and immerse yourself in 3,000 years of history, cultural heritage and traditions. Combine your awe-inspiring visit with a guided tour of the Archaeological Museum of Delphi, one of the most significant museums in Greece. Delphi enjoys a stunning location on the sacred slopes of Mount Parnassus overlooking the Pleastos Valley. This ancient archaeological site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its unique place in Ancient Greek mythology, culture and Hellenic unity. Home of the Muses, the Sanctuary of Apollo was where people consulted the Oracle of Delphi for wisdom before any major decisions were made. Stand in awe of the ruined Temple of Delphi with its 4th century BC Doric columns – all that remained after an earthquake in 375BC. Admire the ancient Theatre nearby, carved out of the hillside to give spectators the best views of the sanctuary and valley far below. It’s breathtaking. This fascinating site in Delphi also includes the Treasury, Castalian Spring and the stadium where the Pythian Games were held every four years to commemorate Apollo’s victory over the serpent Pytho. The private tour concludes in the timeless village of Arachova. Stroll through cobbled streets admiring the Byzantine architecture and pause to photograph the breathtaking mountain views. Day 9

place Santorini Free Day

Today explore Santorini based on your own particular interests and pace. Santorini is gifted with a unique natural beauty and wild scenery created by volcanic eruptions. As it is extremely famous for the beautiful caldera, the island is also known for the two small islands of black lava positioned at the centre of the basin of Santorini which are, geographically, the youngest islets in the Eastern Mediterranean. Nea Kameni especially is a pole of attraction for its healing hot springs. The yellow waters there contain a large amount of sulfur and are renowned for their therapeutic purposes. Kamari is a cosmopolitan beach resort on the southeast of Santorini, which has been awarded the Blue Flag. The long stretch of beach lies under the impressive mountain of Mesa Vouno. The water is deep and blue, the sand is black. A stone-paved promenade runs parallel to the beach and stretches across the crescent moon-shaped bay. This is closed off to traffic during the summer months. You may also wish to visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri. Like the Roman ruins of Pompeii, the remains of the Minoan town of Akrotiri are remarkably well-preserved. The settlement was all but obliterated in the middle of the second millennium BC, when the volcano it sat upon, Thera, erupted, and its inhabitants fled.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 10

place Hiking Santorini's Caldera

The Fira-Oia Hike is a highlight of visiting Santorini. It takes you along the caldera cliff and through the villages of Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli, and Oia. The hike takes between 2 and 5 hours depending on how fast you walk and how often you stop. If you do a side trip to Skaros Rock it will add at least an hour. The hiking trail from Fira to Oia is just under 10.5km (6.5 miles). Part of the path is similar to a sidewalk, parts are cobblestone, and parts are dirt trails. Your guide will be happy to adjust the duration and the pace of the walk to your preferences.

Agios Sostis beach is one of the most remote and chic beaches in the north of Mykonos. Agios Sostis beach is named after a nearby church that stands above the bay and is one of the last forts against sun-beds in Mykonos. Uncultivated, pure , and wild but also quite busy during the high season, it’s mostly quiet, especially compared to some of the other beaches on the island. As there are no sunbeds or umbrellas here, you have all the beach for yourselves. Next, you may wish to have lunch at the hidden little taverna on the top of the hill next to a tiny chapel or choose to visit nearby 'Ano mera' village, stroll its open-air market and sample a light lunch in a taverna located in the main square.
