place Romantic Lucerne & Mt. Pilatus

Mt. Pilatus Golden Round trip - on your own without a guide: Maker of weather, dragon's lair, home to giants and grave of rulers: Lucerne's very own mountain, Pilatus, is one of the most legendary places in Central Switzerland. And one of the most beautiful. On a clear day the mountain offers a panoramic view of 73 Alpine peaks. Even today Pilatus is a source of mystical discoveries and is home to places of natural beauty that are steeped in legend and lore. The mountain can be reached from Lucerne by gondola lift and aerial cable car and from Alpnachstad with the world's steepest rack-railroad. Thus a special roundtrip tour is possible, involving journeys by paddle steamer, rack-railroad, aerial cable car and bus. The trip can be combined with various types of sports or hiking tours. For those people who like boat rides and mountains, the Golden Roundtrip is a wonderful journey. To Alpnachstad by boat or train, then to Pilatus Kulm on the world's steepest railway. Descent by the cable car and gondolas to Kriens, Lucerne or the whole tour vice versa. Rest of the day free time for your own exploring of Lucerne.

place Views of the World No. 2: Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe

Train transfer from Lucerne to Grindelwald. Check-in at the hotel. Top of Europe Jungfraujoch: Enjoy a combination of cogwheel train ride and spectacular new tricable Eiger Express gondola ride through green meadows and the hard rock of the Mountain Eiger to Europe’s highest railway station at 11,333 ft: the famous Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe). A visit to the Jungfraujoch is an unforgettable experience in a high-Alpine wonderland of eternal ice and snow and a true highlight of a visit in Switzerland. The Sphinx is the highest vantage point on the Top of Europe at 3,571m. Once at the top you will have magnificent views of the longest ice stream in the Alps, the Aletsch Glacier. The mighty Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau massif soaring almost vertically up from the valley is also a sight to behold. This whole area is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The average temperature during the summer months varies from around -9c to 1.7c degrees. Highlights on the top of the glacier: - new Eiger Express tricable gondola ride - Ice Palace - Alpine Sensation - Jungfrau-Panorama: A 360 degree panoramic mountain experience, with a film allowing you to enter the magical world of the Jungfraujoch as it changes through 365 days of the year. - Lindt Chocolate Heaven - Sphinx Viewing Platform - Glacier Suspension Bridge - Snow Fun Park - Hike to Mönchsjoch Hut You have a choice of restaurants here, from a quick snack in the self service cafeteria to a more leisurely lunch in the Crystal restaurant. place Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen valley

Visit beautiful Lauterbrunnen valley, with lots of waterfalls spilling from the cliffs on both sides and big mountain peaks all around. This valley path stretches from Lauterbrunnen to the Schilthornbahn near Stechelberg, about 4.3 km. You can simply walk up and back as far as you like. You could also walk the full 4.3 km to the Schilthornbahn, visit the mountain peak, then in the valley, ride the bus back to town.

Day 5

place Zermatt Village

Train transfer from Grindelwald to Zermatt. Checkin at the hotel. Ascend by cable car to the famous top of Matterhorn glacier, set on a high plateau and surrounded by mountains 13,124 feet high. Fantastic highest viewing platform in Europe. The Matterhorn and Switzerland are inseparably linked to each other. The pyramid shaped colossus of a mountain, which is very difficult to climb, is said to be the most-photographed mountain in the world. The Klein-Matterhorn ("LittleMatterhorn") which you reach by cable car, lies adjacent to the Matterhorn. During Summer you can hike or during Winter ski on the glacier. Rest of the day at leisure in Zermatt, famous because of the best view of the impressive Matterhorn. The rural village with the dark sunburned wooden houses is inviting for shopping and fine eating.

Day 6

place Geneve Lake with Castle Chillon & Lausanne

Train transfer from Zermatt to Montreux. Visit Chillon Castle, which is located on a rock on the banks of Lake Geneva. The water castle is the most visited historic building in Switzerland. For nearly four centuries Chillon was the residence and profitable toll station of the Counts of Savoy. Afterwards some free time to explore Montreux on your own: Montreux has been around for centuries, but really got going in the 19th century, when it was favored by the British and Russian nobility for winter retreats. A Mediterranean-like micro climate allows palms and flowers to flourish; a lakefront and alpine views are other drawcards. Wonderful Chillon Castle is Switzerland's most visited attraction and the three-week July Montreux Jazz Festival is one of Europe's best music jamborees. The town's lakefront setting, backed by vineyards and mountains, is gorgeous. A flamboyant statue of Freddie Mercury, bang slap on the waterfront in his trademark strutting pose, is a reminder that Queen recorded several albums in Montreux. Train transfer to Lausanne. Check in at the hotel.
