Day 1

place Belgrade City Tour

Belgrade is the only European capital that lies on confluence of 2 great rivers, Sava and Danube. It is also one of the oldest capitals in Europe and one of the oldest cities in the world with rich, long and turbulent history. Built around the fortress that was raised in 1st century, the city was thorough history main goal of many biggest forces mainly because of its perfect geostrategic position which presents kind of a bridge, the crossroad between east and west. Having that in mind, as British encyclopedia tells us, Belgrade is the most ruined city in the world. 44 times it was demolished to the dust and 137 fights were fought for the fortress. Today, this capital offers a lot of different things to visit, from the fortress to Nikola Tesla and Josip Broz Tito museum, to one of the biggest orthodox temple in the world St Sava. Also, it is famous by its nightlife. Many tourist organizations and travel magazines choose Belgrade to be the number 1 destination in Europe for best night life. Let’s not forget We start the tour of Belgrade with a visit to the St. Sava Temple – one of the biggest Orthodox churches in the world – visiting the Temple inside with a beautifully decorated crypt. After the Temple, we continue with panoramic sightseeing during which we will see the St. Mark's Church, House of Parliament, City Hall, The Republic Square with National Theatre and National Museum and finally stop at the Student's Square. From there we continue on foot through the central street – Prince Mihailo Street, we will see the Belgrade Cathedral and then continue to the Kalemegdan Fortress – holding over 2000 years of history, the fortress goes back to ancient times, although its today look comes mostly from 16th and 17th century and the battles of Turkish Ottoman Empire and Austro-Hungarian Empire. Today the fortress is a vast park and green oasis in the heart of the city, located beautifully overlooking the confluence of rivers Danube and Sava, and New Belgrade across.
