A Day Tour You Can't Miss
Longshan Temple: A Feast of Architecture & Folk Culture The most well-known temple in Taiwan. The temple was built in Qianlong 5th year in Qing Dynasty. The doors, beams, and poles are beautifully decorated and these characteristics together make Longshan Temple a landmark of traditional Chinese architecture of its time in Taiwan. A City Landmark not to be Missed: Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall Standing as the symbol of Kuomintang and Taiwan’s first President Chiang Kai Shek, the massive commemorative monument mirrors the “Clear blue sky, white sun, and a wholly red earth”(青天、白日、滿地紅), which is described in the national anthem, in its architecture. Not only can you enjoy the changing of guards on the hour in the main hall but also visit the National Theater and Concert Hall located nearby. Must-Eat Restaurant: Michelin Star – “Din Tai Fung” (optional) The New York Times rated Din Tai Fung as one of the top ten restaurants in the world. It is a distinctive honor shared by no other Taiwanese restaurants in the past. In 2013, Din Tai Fung was ranked No. 1 in the “101 Best Restaurants in Asia” list, released by The Daily Meal. Din Tai Fung invites you to experience their exquisite cuisine. The Tallest Skyscraper in Taiwan: Taipei 101 (optional) When you overlook the low-rise city landscape of Taipei, you’ll realize that it’s worth waiting in line to get a God’s-eye-view of the city. The elevator in 101 rockets you up to the 89th floor in only 37 seconds, where you can sit atop the pride and joy of architecture in Taiwan. Forty-Four South Village The village got its name because it was dwelled by the workers of Military Factory #44 and their families. As time goes by, the site is adapted into a cultural and educational zone. Some of the old townhouses are retained, while a few others serve as the Xinyi Public Assembly Hall for holding open events and performances, as well as displaying the village’s early remains.
