Day 1

place Lanzarote

Lanzarote is often called the different island. Its black and reddish rocks and the island's tranquility and silence make you feel like on a different planet. Meet our local expert guide for a half day private tour to one of the most fascinating volcanic landscapes of the Earth: Timanfaya National Park. This recent volcanic landscape has some of the most spectacular views in the Canary Islands. The almost complete lack of vegetation, the rugged lava formations and the range of colors, from red, ochre and orange to black, take your imagination to places you never even dreamed of. In your visit to Timanfaya National Park you will enjoy the geothermal experiments using the four elements of science -Earth, Fire, Water & Air- and you will also be transported to another planet in the panoramic Route of the Volcanoes. After the visit to the Park, you will be heading towards the submarine volcano of El Golfo to see its beautiful Green Lagoon, and we drive along the lava coast of Los Hervideros. Finally, a stop in La Geria, where you will discover a unique way of cultivating the vines. The peasants of Lanzarote dug up nearly 200,000 holes in the thick layer of volcanic grains to plant the vines that resulted in a prosperous wine industry, renowned for its excellent wines. There is a wine tasting included in one of the most prestigious wineries of Lanzarote. If you feel adventurous enough in this tour, you will have the possibility of riding our “four legged” friends: the camels.

Right in the middle of the Atlantic, the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo are a haven of natural beauty. The exotic colors of the flowers stand out from among the blue sea and the emerald green vegetation; this is an archipelago where two thirds are a protected area and where the largest Laurisilva forest in the world is located. Following the walk, make your way to Santana to see its famous A-framed cottages and then continue along the northern coastal road to Faial. Here, stop for lunch at a famous restaurant on the island called Grutas do Faial, which means the caves of Faial. A delicious lunch is served along with a very good locally made table wine.
