Welcome to Beijing, the starting point of your journey through China. After landing, make your own way from the airport and settle in at your own pace, with no scheduled sightseeing planned for the day.
The rest of the day is free, giving you time to relax after your flight, adjust to the time difference, or head out for a walk. Use this open time to get your first glimpse of the city before the guided program begins.
Beijing is the first city on this route through China, setting up the journey’s focus on imperial heritage and local city life.

Day 2: Imperial Beijing and Hutongs | Forbidden City, Opera, and Old Lanes
Start at Tiananmen Square before continuing to the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Walk through its vast courtyards and ceremonial halls as you take in China’s imperial history, distinctive architecture, decorative details, and centuries-old design.
In the afternoon, explore Beijing’s traditional hutong neighborhoods with your guide. Follow narrow lanes, visit historic siheyuan courtyard residences once associated with notable figures, and see a quieter side of the city. Enjoy a drink during a short Peking Opera performance, then continue to Dingfu Street, where historic buildings and local character reflect old Beijing.

Day 3: Mutianyu Great Wall | Cable Car and Olympic Park
Leave Beijing in the morning and travel about two hours to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. This well-preserved area is known for beautiful surroundings and a relatively peaceful atmosphere. Round-trip cable car rides make access easier, so you can spend more time walking along the ancient stone pathways.
After returning to the city, pause at Olympic Park for views of the Bird’s Nest Stadium and Water Cube, two symbols of the 2008 Olympic Games. Before heading back, make a stop at a local pearl store, keeping the day’s sequence clear from mountain scenery to modern Beijing landmarks.

Day 4: Beijing to Xi’an | Market, Temple, and High-Speed Train
Begin with a visit to a local market, where rows of fresh produce and busy food stalls offer a close look at everyday life in Beijing. The aroma of freshly steamed buns and traditional snacks fills the air, making this a practical place to sample classic breakfast favorites before continuing the day’s sightseeing.
Next, visit the Temple of Heaven, an elegant Ming Dynasty complex built for imperial ceremonies. In the surrounding park, you may see residents practicing tai chi, performing sword dances, or creating calligraphy with water on the pavement. Later, transfer to the railway station with your guide, board the high-speed train to Xi’an, and meet your local guide on arrival.

Day 5: Terracotta Army and Xi’an | Mausoleum Visit and Muslim Quarter
In the morning, travel outside Xi’an to visit the Terracotta Army at the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. The site displays thousands of life-sized clay soldiers, each with different facial features, along with horses and chariots arranged in formation, showing the scale and craftsmanship of the Qin Dynasty.
After the visit, return to Xi’an and continue to the Muslim Quarter. This lively area is known for its street food and local atmosphere, with streets lined by food stalls and small shops. It is a popular place to try a variety of local snacks while experiencing a busy neighborhood setting.
The Terracotta Army is associated with Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the Qin Dynasty ruler whose mausoleum complex contains the figures.

Day 6: Xi’an to Zhangjiajie | Flight and Free Time
After your visit in Xi’an, transfer to the airport for your flight to Zhangjiajie. This travel day shifts the journey from Xi’an’s historic city atmosphere toward the natural landscapes that define the next stage of the route.
On arrival in Zhangjiajie, meet your local guide and continue with the scheduled transfer. The rest of the day is free, giving you time to rest after the journey or explore the surroundings at your own pace before sightseeing resumes.
Zhangjiajie is known in this itinerary for its dramatic sandstone peaks and accessible mountain routes.

Day 7: Zhangjiajie Forest Park | Elevators, Peaks, and Valley Views
Begin at Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, one of the region’s key natural areas known for its distinctive sandstone landscape. Take the Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie, where elevated viewpoints reveal pillar-like rock formations that inspired well-known film scenery. Walk along designated paths for different viewing angles of the surrounding peaks.
Continue by cable car to Tianzi Mountain, an area known for wide mountain views and tall stone formations rising through forest and cloud layers. As you move through different elevations, the scenery shifts and offers varied perspectives of the park. In the afternoon, visit the Ten-Mile Gallery and take a round-trip mini-train ride through the valley, passing natural formations, vegetation, and streams in a calm setting.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is noted in this itinerary for its sandstone pillars, elevated viewpoints, and accessible mountain routes.

Day 8: Tianmen Mountain to Shanghai | Lake Boat Ride and Flight
In the morning, visit Baofeng Lake, a mountain lake known for its clear water and forested surroundings. Take a short boat ride across the lake, with views of the calm landscape and surrounding green hills before continuing with the day’s Zhangjiajie sightseeing.
In the afternoon, continue to Tianmen Mountain, one of Zhangjiajie’s main landmarks. Ride the cable car up the mountain, passing through changing elevations with views of surrounding peaks. At the top, visit Tianmen Cave, a large natural arch, and experience the glass walkway along designated cliffside sections. After the visit, transfer to the airport for your flight to Shanghai, where you are met on arrival for the scheduled transfer.

Day 9: Shanghai City Tour | Bund, Gardens, Markets, and Museum
Start at the Bund, where historic buildings line the waterfront and face the modern skyline across the river. Continue to Yuyuan Garden, a classical Ming Dynasty garden with traditional pavilions, ponds, and rock formations. Next, visit a silk shop before heading to Fuxing Park, a public park with French-style design where local residents gather for daily activities.
Then continue to Bugaoli, also known as Cité Bourgogne, a residential area with a mix of architectural styles where everyday neighborhood life can still be seen. After that, visit a local food market to try regional snacks. In the afternoon, visit the Shanghai Museum, which displays collections of ancient bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy, and coins.
