Day 1

place Welcome to Romania

Arrival in Bucharest - the capital of Romania. Panoramic sightseeing tour including stops at the most important historical sites: The Parliament Palace also known as People’ s House, Revolution Square where the Romanian dictator, Ceausescu, had his last speech and the military Academy, a great stop for learning more about Romanian history. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

Day 2

place Stepping in the historic region of Transylvania

Departure to Curtea de Arges, former capital of Wallachia. Visit the Episcopal Church where the Romanian Kings are buried. Drive along the picturesque Olt Valley to Sibiu, one of the oldest towns in Transylvania - formerly Hermannstadt - founded by the Saxon colonists. Guided walking tour of the medieval town (the Main Square, the Evangelical Church, the Liars' Bridge etc.). Sibiu - once one of the easternmost cities of the glittering Hapsburg Empire was European Cultural Capital in 2007. Nine centuries of cultural treasures await discovery. Drive to Sibiel. Visit the Icon Glass Museum that hosts the larges painted icons in Transylvania, unique in Europe. Dinner and accommodation in a local family home including meat and cabbage rolls cooking demonstration. You will have the unique chance to learn more about the local traditions in Romania and to discover the old ways of cooking. Overnight in Sibiel.

Day 3

place Discover Medieval Transylvania

Morning drive to the heart of Transylvania to learn more about the Saxon culture and to see on your own how the Saxon villages display a remarkable, unspoilt harmony between people and landscape. Drive to Biertan to visit the impressive fortified church- UNESCO world heritage. Drive on to Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler (“Dracula”). Walking tour in the medieval citadel (the “Upper Town”) to admire: the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill etc.). Overnight in Sighisoara.

Day 4

place Enjoy elegant Transylvania on the way to Moldova

After breakfast, continue to Târgu Mures - visit of the elegant city centre well known for its architecture. Drive on to Bistrita - one of the 7 main medieval towns of “Siebenbürgen” (the German name for Transylvania). Continuation through Tihuta Pass. Departure to Bucovina –the "upper land" and of the unique painted monasteries, belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage. Crossing the land of Dracula, wonderfully depicted in Bram Stocker's novel "Dracula", we arrive at Campulung Moldovenesc and visit the Wooden Museum. Overnight in Gura Humorului.

Day 5

place UNESCO Painted Monasteries of Bucovina

Full day in Bucovina – land of the unique painted monasteries belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage. Visit the famous monastery of Voronet, “the Sistine Chapel of the Orient” due to the dominant "blue" of its frescoes and the beauty of the paintings, masterpieces of the post-Byzantine time, of which the scene of the "Last Judgement" is worldwide known. Then, visit Moldovita and Sucevita monasteries with outside frescoes. Enjoy a traditional lunch with traditional plates in a local guesthouse. Late afternoon drive south to visit the Agapia monastery, the most important Orthodox nuns complex in Romania. Overnight at hotel in Piatra Neamt.

Day 6

place Unique natural wonders - Bicaz Gorges & Red Lake

Departure across the mountains to Brasov through the spectacular Bicaz Gorges - the Red Lake – Miercurea Ciuc. Visit the beautiful fortified church of Prejmer. Panoramic sightseeing tour and guided walking tour in the historical centre of Brasov (formerly Kronstadt)to discover the old town center, the Black Church, the Council Square and the Hirsche House. Founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1211 on an ancient Dacian site and settled by the Saxons as one of the seven walled citadels, Brasov exudes a distinct medieval ambiance and has been used as backdrop in many recent period films. Overnight in Brasov.

Day 7

place On royal footsteps (Dracula's Castle & Peles Castle)

Drive on to Bran to visit the famous medieval castle built as a fortress - The "Dracula's" Castle – for the citizens of Brasov with view to defence the city. We head to Sinaia following the scenic Prahova Valley – arrival in Sinaia, called “Pearl of the Carpathians” due to the beauty of its natural setting and the elegance of its architecture. Visit the summer residence of the first royal couple, King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth, Peles Castle, one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe. Late afternoon drive to Bucharest. Upon arrival visit the outdoor Village Museum. Walking tour in the old city center and farewell dinner in the most famous restaurant in Bucharest. Overnight at hotel in Bucharest.

Day 8

place Saying goodbye to Romania

In the morning free time in central Bucharest for visits and shopping (subject to the flight schedule) and transfer to the airport. End of our services.
