Self-guided Camino Real
To start the Camino real hike, you need to take a public bus from the bus station in San Gil to Barichara, there are buses every 30 minutes and the journey takes around 40 minutes. When you arrive to Barichara, considered the most beautiful of Colombia, you can explore its cobblestoned streets and admire the colonial houses. Then from the main square, continue uphill until Carrera 10 and turn left. There you will find a stone slab marking the start of a path to the village of Guane. The Camino Real was built by the Guane Indigenous people and afterwards it was used by the Spaniards. The Camino Real, as it is known today, dates back to 1867, when the German Geo Von Lengerke used the footprints of the natives and was built stone by stone. It did not use cement or other artificial glue to make it passable in winter times and to facilitate the flow of products between the different regions. The trail Barichara to Guane is well preserved and marked, therefore a guide is not needed. It takes around 2 hours (5 km approx.) to complete the trek and when you arrive to Guane you can take a public bus back to San Gil. The buses from Guane are less frequent, however in the main square you can find information about departure times. You can also do the Camino Real from Guane to Barichara, however you will go uphill most of the time. Take into account that it could be very sunny and hot during the trek, therefore it will be a bit easier to do it from Barichara to Guane. Meals - Breakfast

The adventure begins
The Lost City (Teyuna) has been compared to the ruins of Machu Pichu, for being a city built by indigenous people before the conquest (that is to say, it is a pre-Hispanic work), but it is worth to bear in mind that the architecture of The Lost City has not been restored, and its terraces, roads and architecture are as they were during the passing of several centuries. You will begin the trip at 8:30 am, traveling for about 2 hours in a 4 × 4 vehicle from Santa Marta to the Mamey sector (Machete Pelao), where you will have lunch and then start one of the best Treks of South America. You will start the hike through ecological trails (approximately 7.6 km) until you reach the first camp, Adan's Cabin. In this rural community, you will be at 450 meters above sea level, here you will spend your first night and rest from today's demanding trek. During the tour, you will spot a crystal clear river where you can enjoy a bath and will be able to observe the great richness of the flora and fauna of the area. Some tourists complete the Trekking in 3 hours, others in 5 hours; everything depends on your physical condition and weather conditions.
