Day 1

place Day 1: La Paz, Bolivia

Airport Transfer

Welcome to La Paz! Today, you will be picked-up from the airport and transferred to your accommodation.

Day 2

place Day 2: La Paz, Bolivia

La Paz Half-Day Walking City Tour (B)
Today, we will take the famous "Mi Teleférico" cable car up to El Alto, one of La Paz' suburbs. El Alto is located at a dizzying 13,615ft (4,000m) above sea level and is one of the highest cities in the world! Then, we will “trek” our way down to the center of La Paz. We will visit the streets like locals during the 4-hour descent through markets, neighborhoods, plazas, and alleyways. To top it off, we will take a micro or local bus to the heart of the market area. Here, we will be able to shop around and go to different markets, including the famous Witch’s Market. Time at leisure to have lunch and explore the city on our own.

Day 3

place Day 3: La Paz - Uyuni, Bolivia

Transfer to Uyuni (B/L)


Today you will have a day at leisure to take a rest and explore the city on your own. At 20:00 hrs, you will be picked-up from the hotel and transferred to the bus station where you will catch your overnight bus to Uyuni. During your overnight trip you will have a light dinner. NOTE: Check-out is at hrs. 12:00 but you can leave your luggage at reception.

Day 4

place Day 4: Uyuni - San Juan or Atulcha, Bolivia

Uyuni Salt Flats (L/D)


At around 07:00 hrs you will be picked-up from the bus station and have time at leisure to enjoy your breakfast. The trip will begin at 10:30 hrs. We will first visit the Train cemetery (very old locomotives from the Carbon era), and the town of Colchani, where we will see the manual processing of salt, handicrafts and salt museum. Then, we will enter the Uyuni salt flats (12,000 km2) and will see the “Montones de sal” and how locals extract the salt. We will visit Playa Blanca hotel and the Incahuasi Island with its giant cacti that is located in the middle of the salt flats. We will have lunch there, enjoying an amazing view. Then, we will continue our trip to the town of San Juan or Atulcha (3,700 masl). You will spend tonight at a small salt hostel.

Day 5

place Day 5: San Juan or Atulcha - Huayllajara, Bolivia

Salar de Chiguana, Eduardo Avaroa Andean Flora and Fauna Reserve, and Laguna Colorada (B/L/D)


Today we will depart at 08:30 hrs. We will visit Salar de Chiguana, viewpoint of the Ollague Volcano (active), to later continue the tour and visit the Andean lagoons of Cañapa, Chiarcota, and Hedionda, located at an average altitude of 4,300masl. Here, we can see flamingos, vicuñas or other Andean fauna. We will then pass through the Siloli desert and visit the Stone Tree, formed due to the erosion. In the afternoon, we will visit Laguna Colorada (4,300masl) where we can see more wild animals. We will continue to Huayllajara, where our small hostel is located at an average altitude of 4,300masl. Please consider that the temperature is very low at night (even -20 °C), therefore it is recommended to bring a sleeping bag.

Day 6

place Day 6: Huayllajara - Uyuni - La Paz, Bolivia

Sol de Mañana geysers, Polques, Green Lagoon and transfer to La Paz (B/L)


Today, we will depart at 05:00 hrs to visit the active geysers of Sol de Mañana, which are located at an altitude of 4,900masl. We will see the fumaroles or boiling lava at a temperature of 90° C. Then, we will continue to the thermal waters of Polques, where we can take a hot bath. We will pass through the Dalí desert until we reach the Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca, located at the foot of the Licancabur volcano. After this, we will return to the Uyuni town (approx. 7 hours) without many stops except at noon for lunch and a visit to the rock valley in Villamar. We will be arriving in Uyuni at around 17:00hrs.

Day 7

place Day 7: Uyuni - Potosi, Bolivia

Transfer to Potosi (B)


Today, you will take a public bus to Potosi (3-4 hours). You'll be able to enjoy the scenic journey ride across the highlands. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel. After this, you will have time at leisure to explore the city on your own. NOTE: Casa de la Moneda (Mint House) is a must when visiting Potosi. Please consider that it is closed on Saturday and Sunday in the afternoon and Monday all day.

Day 8

place Day 8: Potosi - Sucre, Bolivia

Transfer to Sucre


Morning at leisure to explore the city. If you dare, we recommend you to visit the silver mine in the famous Cerro Rico, once the richest of the world. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the bus station to take the public bus to Sucre (3 hours). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 9

Half-Day Walking City Tour (B)


At 09:00 hrs, you will be picked-up from the hotel and we will take a taxi to La Recoleta, from where there’s a beautiful view of this colonial city, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Here, we will visit the ASUR Museum of Indigenous Art, a "living" museum with textiles from the southern Andes, art by indigenous groups from the region, and local artists working in the city (entrance is not included). We will keep walking while we learn more about the city's role not only in Bolivian history but in the history of Latin America. We will see the façade of the cathedral, the Casa de la Libertad (where Bolivia’s proclamation of independence from Spain was signed) and finish in the main square. During your free time, we recommend you to visit the inside of the Casa de la Libertad (closed on Saturday and Sunday in the afternoon and Monday all day). At night, we recommend you to visit the Folk show "Orígenes", where you will be able to see different typical dances from Bolivia and enjoy a delicious dinner!

Day 10

Free Day in Sucre (B)


Today you will have the day at leisure to explore the city of Sucre on your own. For those who enjoy hiking outdoors, we recommend a full-day excursion to the Maragua crater, a place of extraordinary natural beauty, due to the geological formation that forms a kind of shell that extends over an area of ​​approximately 8 km. The inhabitants of Maragua produce textiles of very good quality.

Day 11

Transfer back to La Paz


Enjoy a free day to experience on your own! Today, you can visit Cal Orcko dinosaur prints; the site preserves the highest number of dinosaur footprints in the world, with around 5000 footprint impressions from 332 species of dinosaurs from the Cretaceous period, roughly 65 million years ago. Then, you will take your bus back to La Paz. NOTE: Most of the best buses depart at night (between 19:00 and 21:00 hrs.) and it takes about 12 hours to get to La Paz. If you have an early flight on Day 12, we recommend taking the bus on Day 10 or asking for a good bus company that departs in the morning.
