place Lima as a local

What a better start for a culinary tour than a visit to the market! Here, check out the different species of fish, vegetables and fruits and attend a ceviche making demonstration at one of the best local seafood restaurants in Lima. You'll then continue to a Pisco tavern and cellar where you will be taught the secrets on preparing a killer Pisco Sour and other Peruvian cocktails. Afterwards enjoy a delicious traditional Peruvian buffet, before taking a look at modern Lima, visiting the suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores; see the Financial Center, the San Isidro Golf Course and the Olive Grove Park. Then enjoy a nice view of the Pacific Ocean, driving down the Miraflores coastline, a cliff-top road overlooking the ocean. The tour then shifts to Colonial Lima to visit the city's recently beautifully restored historical center, designated by Unesco as Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1991. Take in the Plaza Mayor, the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishops Palace, the City Hall and the Desamparados Train Station. Day 3

place Arrival to the Sacred Valley

It's time to hit the road again as you make your way to your next destination. Your private transfer will take you from your hotel to the airport to continue discovering Peru further or travel towards your next destination. Upon arrival to Cusco, your private transfer will pick you up and take you down into the beautiful Sacred Valley. Located at a lower altitude than Cusco, staying in the Sacred Valley will help you acclimatize to the high altitudes. Your boutique hotel is located in the beautiful Sacred Valley which will form an essential part of your time in this magnificent region and will add to your overall understanding of the Inca history and way of life. The evening is free for you to spend at your leisure and soak up the peace and serenity of the Sacred Valley. If arriving from lower altitude, we would recommend spending your first day in the Sacred Valley relaxing, and getting used to the altitude before doing anything overly physical. If arriving from a high altitude destination like, Lake Titicaca, then hopefully the altitude should not be a problem, and a day of exploring this iconic region is a fantastic way to begin your time in the Sacred Valley. Be amazed with these natural formations and how nature has created diferent environmental conditions (also known as microclimates), which are replicated in greenhouses nowadays because of their favorable environments. After visiting this incredible place, you will start hiking to Maras salt flats where you will learn all about this incredible destination and the process to extract the salt which is becoming famous around the world. After this, you will continue hiking to Pichingoto, where the vehicle will be waiting to take you to Ollantaytambo fortress, where your guide will explain about this wonderful place. Finally, you will be transferred back to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Included: Private excursion with Guide, Transport, Entrance fees; Accommodation in Sacred Valley. Day 5

place Train to Machu Picchu

After breakfast, your private transfer will pick you up from your accommodation in the Sacred Valley and take you to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo. We recommend exploring the beautiful cobblestone streets, the colorful textiles and charming cafes before your train leaves for Machu Picchu. Boarding the train from the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes shaves 2 hours off what normally is a 4-hour journey from Cusco, beginning at the most beautiful part of the stretch, leaving from Ollantaytambo. Arriving at your hotel of choice in Aguas Calientes at the foot of Machu Picchu, we recommend that you spend a few hours exploring this quaint little town, connected to the world by train. Situated in a deep gorge below Machu Picchu the charm of Aguas Calientes scattered in its cobblestone streets lined by small local restaurants and shops, enclosed by steep cliffs, a misty cloud forest, and two rushing rivers. We suggest having an early dinner tonight as tomorrow you'll have an early start going to Machu Picchu at sunrise. A gourmet lunch is provided by the Sanctuary Lodge at Machu Picchu and then you'll begin your journey to the Inca Capital of Cusco. Taking the Vistadome train from Aguas Calientes you'll head through the dramatic landscape of the Sacred Valley until you reach Cusco. Having acclimatized to the altitude the last few days, Cusco's altitude (11,150ft. above sea level) should be no problem at all at this point, allowing you to really get out and enjoy the town this evening, or get some rest at one of our lovely boutique hotels in Cusco. Enjoy walking around the Imperial City of the Incas. The tour starts at the impressive Colonial Cathedral in Cusco which contains over 400 paintings from the Cusqueña School and several beautiful altars. Then you will visit the Temple of the Sun, the main religious center of the Incas dedicated to the Sun Cult, where the walls were said to be covered entirely with gold. If you still have some energy left, as this is a private tour, we recommend asking your guide to take you up to the old Inca city of Sacsayhuaman, on the outskirts of Cusco. Here you will see and learn how the Inca's were able to move and lift enormous rocks, to construct walls so strong, that the building has survived all these years as well as a few earthquakes, mudslides and erosion. You can then take a taxi back to your accommodation but, not before taking in the stunning aerial view over the terracotta rooftops of Cusco from the Inca city of Sacsayhuaman (entrance fee to these ruins is not included). If you are a food lover but also like to learn how to cook foreign dishes, this is the perfect excursion for you. You shall make your way to the Cooking class location (transfers not included), where our experienced Peruvian chef will take you through the central San Pedro market a few blocks away. He will teach you about typical Peruvian ingredients such as potatoes, corn, Andean herbs, Andean grains (quinoa, qañiwa, etc.), fruits and vegetables. After buying the needed ingredients you will go back to the cooking class location to prepare your meal, while our chef share some of his cooking tricks with you... After preparing the dishes, you will feast together and will have the opportunity to ask our chef any questions that come to mind. Enjoy!
