Day 1

place ARRIVAL - AIRPORT/ NEGOMBO

Welcome to Sri Lanka, the Pearl of the Indian Ocean! You will be greeted by your Sri Lankan representative at Airport and will escort you to the vehicle and transfer to Negombo. Check in to the hotel and relax your day after a long flight. Negombo situated by the shores of a lagoon by the same name once has been a trading port for Portuguese and Dutch and is a ideal place for those who want quick access to and from the airport. Attractions in the city are the old Dutch fort gate built in 1672 now a part of the prison, the Dutch Canal which was then a supply route to the Dutch administration, old churches and fishing villagers. The 100 km long canal running through the town is still being used and is an attraction for those who want to see the country from a different perspective. *Optional: In the evening visit Negombo city and boat ride. Overnight stay at a hotel in Negombo. (Airport / Negombo: Approx. 20 Minutes)

Day 2

place DAY WITH AN AYURVEDIC DOCTOR / COLOMBO

Enjoy your Breakfast at the hotel & let’s kick off the day with an Ayurvedic experience. Sri Lankan Ayurveda medicine is based on the country’s centuries old treasure trove of indigenous knowledge. With its ancient history, traditional Ayurveda medicine as it is practiced today in the country, is based on an indigenous heritage preserved over 3000 years. In order to get a glimpse of this practices today you will visit an Ayuvedic Doctor in Colombo suburb and will spend a day under his guidance. Here you will be guided through the beginning of Ayurveda culture and the treatments which are used for various illnesses. After this exciting experience proceed to the commercial capital, Colombo, the busiest place in Sri Lanka and a beautiful city with modern high-rise buildings amidst old colonial ones making it a picturesque place. Colombo offers a lot for the tourists including the National Museum and the Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala which are worth a visit. Galle Face Green in Colombo, the favourite hangout spot for locals and tourists alike overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and surrounded by tall beautiful buildings. Viharamaha Devi Park with tall flowering trees which bloom during April is a quiet serene place in the middle of the busy city. Colombo is also a shoppers’ paradise with posh shopping malls and the famous Pettah market. Enjoy a city tour in the evening & relax, tomorrow is a big day..

Day 3

place NEGOMBO / SIGIRIYA

Have an early breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Sigiriya in central Sri Lanka. During the journey to Sigiriya you will pass scenic locations of rural Sri Lanka such as Lakes, paddy fields, jungles & rural villages to make a stop if you like to take some pictures. To quench your thirst, you may enjoy a fresh king coconut or a lemon juice from a small-time vendor by the side of the road on your way. This experience is really fun & you will love it. Check in to the hotel, refresh & get ready to discover the Sigiriya rock fortress in the evening. Among locals this is called as the “8th wonder of the world” absolutely marvellous fortress complex which dates back to 477 CE situated 200 meters high from the ground. This giant rock fortress has water fountains, boulder gardens, frescos, mirror wall, relics of the castle and many more exciting monuments from the bottom to the top of the complex. This is definitely the most visited tourist attraction in Sri Lanka. UNESCO has declared this ancient city as one of the World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Some people believe that Sigiriya is a post historical archaeology turning point of Ravana. According to them, Sigiriya may be the Alakamandava (the City of the Gods) that was built up before 50 centuries ago by King Kubera who was the half brother of Great king Ravana. After the Sigiriya discovery it is time to return to the hotel & relax, a dip in the pool would be a good idea.

Day 4

place DISCOVER ANCIENT DAMBULLA

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel & proceed to meet a local family in the area & join a Paddy farming experience to discover the rural way of farmers life. Sri Lanka is famous for its Paddy fields all around the Island. Today you will visit a local family which are working in the paddy fields from generation to generations. You will listen to their stories which are insightful for the techniques used in Paddy field farming. Enjoy a farming session covered with Mud just like a local or engage in another related activity depending on the farming season. After the farming session you will enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan lunch prepared by the local family which will be served in a Lotus leaf. After this exciting experience return to the hotel, refresh & get read to visit Dambulla cave temple in the evening. The world renowned rock cave temple complex in Dambulla golden temple dated to the 2nd century BC is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the historical, religious & unbelievable architectural value. This site has over 80 caves, some of which are used to practice deep meditation by Buddhist monks. This Rock temple has five different caves with 153 magnificent Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan monarchs and 4 Hindu gods. Return to the hotel & relax.

Day 5

place DAMBULLA / KANDY / RATHNAPURA

Have breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Rathnapura via Kandy. Kandy is the hill capital of Sri Lanka, surrounded by sky kissing hills, green valleys, pure rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Kandy is also the cultural center of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO world heritage city. The most respected & celebrated Buddhist monument, the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha is placed at the Dalada Maligawa, the temple of the tooth which is the most important attraction in Kandy. Buddhist devotees from all over the world visits this place all year around. Royal botanical garden, KCC shopping mall, the ancient lake in the middle of the city, Gem museums, souvenir shops & many more modern & ancient attractions are available in Kandy. Proceed to Rathnapura & check in to the hotel & enjoy the evening. Ratnapura is the capital city of Sabaragamuwa province in Sri Lanka. Well known as the city of gems and has a history of a long-established industry of precious stone mining including rubies, sapphires and other gems. Many foreign royalties adorn jewellery with gems originating in this city. Other than gem mining, the city is known for rice and fruit cultivation. Large plantations of tea and rubber also surround the city. Tea grown in this region is called low country tea. Sinharaja forest reserve, Udawalawe national park, Kitulgala and Adam’s peak are some locations in this region that are popular among tourists and locals.

place SINHARAJA RAIN FOREST / RATNAPURA

Enjoy your breakfast, and today you will enjoy a jungle trek in Sinharaja rain forest, Sinharaja rain forest, The biodiversity hot spot in Sri Lanka, one of the largest rain forest, national park & biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka; considering the high importance UNESCO has declared Sinharaja rain forest as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a home to a variety of endangered mammal, birds, reptiles, butterflies. This is a fantastic place to enjoy a forest Trek or a camping secession in the boarder of the forest near a water stream. If time permits visit a local family in the area to experience Kithul Jaggery making process & enjoy the true Sri Lanka rural hospitality. Enjoy a cup of hot Ceylon tea with a piece of fresh Jaggery at the house hold & return to the hotel. After an interesting day relax & have a good night sleep.

Day 7

place RATHNAPURA / GALLE

Enjoy the breakfast at the hotel and today you will travel to Galle in down south of Sri Lanka for the beach stay. On your way in Koggala enjoy a mouthwatering fresh Seafood lunch specially prepared for you by the beach. After Lunch proceed to Galle & check in to the hotel on the beach, enjoy a barefoot walk on the beach in the evening & inhale fresh sea breeze.

place WOOD CARVING EXPERIENCE IN GALLE

Enjoy the Breakfast at the hotel and you will visit a local village where you will experience a local wood carving technique engaging with a local family. You will receive your own carved small Elephant as a souvenir to take home. Visit the world-famous Dutch fort in the evening & enjoy the exciting walk between historical buildings. Galle is a beautiful city with 300-year-old Dutch fortification built in 1663, covered three sides by the fascinating Indian Ocean. Walk in side this fort premises will take you to the antiquity of Dutch era in Sri Lanka. Series of architectural monuments, stylish boutique hotels, fine dining restaurants, souvenir shops & picture perfect locations are few things you will see in this beautiful set. Galle fort has declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka due to its historical & Architectural values. Return to the hotel & enjoy the evening.
