After reaching the city, you check in to a 3-star guesthouse or hotel situated near the historic center. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time in the evening to explore Brasov on foot. The city displays a mix of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture, offering a glimpse into its medieval heritage. You end your first day with a traditional Romanian dinner, providing an introduction to local flavors and hospitality. Brasov’s history as a Saxon fortress city, founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1211, is evident in its well-preserved old town and has made it a favored location for period films.

Day 2: Explore Bran and Magura | Castle Visit and Mountain Village
After breakfast, you travel by car for about 40 minutes to Bran Village. Here, you visit Bran Castle, known worldwide as "Dracula's Castle," a Gothic fortress that has inspired stories of Bram Stoker’s legendary vampire. Following your time at the castle, you continue to Magura Village, which sits in the heart of Piatra Craiului National Park. You walk along a scenic path that links the Bucegi Mountains, enjoying panoramic views and the peaceful atmosphere of the forest. Lunch is packed and enjoyed outdoors. Your day concludes in Magura, where you have a homemade dinner at your guesthouse. The walk covers 8 kilometers over 4 to 6 hours, with a total ascent of 750 meters and a descent of 450 meters, on medium terrain.
Bran Castle, completed in 1388, has served as a royal residence and a border fortress between Transylvania and Wallachia.

Day 3: Piatra Craiului Park Trekking | Zarnesti Gorges and Curmatura Hut
After breakfast, you set out for a full day of trekking in Piatra Craiului National Park, known for its dramatic limestone ridges and remarkable biodiversity. Your hike begins with a journey through the Zarnesti Gorges, where high cliffs create a striking landscape ideal for photography. The trail leads you deeper into the park, taking you toward Curmatura Hut, which sits at 1,470 meters and serves as a popular stop for hikers and nature enthusiasts. You cover 14 kilometers over 5 to 6 hours, with an elevation gain of 700 meters, traversing varied terrain and natural scenery. A picnic lunch is enjoyed along the route. In the evening, you return to your guesthouse for dinner.
Piatra Craiului National Park is home to over 1,100 plant species, representing nearly a third of Romania's flora.

Day 4: Village Tour: Magura to Fundata | Rural Carpathian Life
After breakfast, you begin a walk through the villages of Pestera, Sirnea, and Ciocanu, each offering insight into traditional Carpathian rural life. The route allows you to observe local customs and village events, such as Sirnea’s “Winter at Sirnea,” which features ski races and seasonal feasts. Today’s journey covers 15 kilometers on easy to medium terrain, with an elevation gain of approximately 1,083 meters and a descent of about 890 meters. You enjoy a packed lunch highlighting local flavors. In the evening, you settle into a village hotel in Fundata, where you have a homemade dinner. This marks the first of three nights in this accommodation.
Sirnea village became Romania’s first tourist village in 1969 and is known for its community festivals celebrating local traditions.

Day 5: Fundata and Fundatica Explorer | Mountain Village Walks
After breakfast, you set out on foot to explore the tranquil villages of Fundata and Fundatica. The walk offers panoramic views of the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountain ranges, with the route covering 10 kilometers over easy to medium terrain. You experience a total ascent and descent of 300 meters each. Lunch is packed and enjoyed during your outing, and you return in the evening for a home-cooked meal at your guesthouse. Along the way, you learn about Fundata’s historical significance during the 1916 Romanian Army’s entry into Austria-Hungary.
Fundata is recognized as the highest-altitude village in Romania and is noted for its traditional architecture and scenic mountain landscapes.

The route leads you along less-traveled paths, where you encounter the Devil's Mill Waterfall and, depending on the season, visit a shepherd’s farm. The hike spans 14 kilometers on medium terrain with an elevation gain of 800 meters. You pause for a packed lunch during the trek, and in the evening, you return to your guesthouse for a hearty meal. The day offers opportunities to observe the park’s diverse plant and animal life as well as its unique geological features.
Bucegi Natural Park is known for its unusual rock formations and is a protected area supporting a wide range of wildlife, including chamois and bears.

Day 7: Thrills of 7 Ladders Canyon | Piatra Mare Adventure and Return to Brasov
Begin your day with breakfast before setting out on a 1.5-hour transfer to the base of Piatra Mare Mountain. Here, you tackle the 7 Ladders Canyon, navigating a series of metal staircases that ascend alongside seven waterfalls, with the tallest drop measuring 15 meters. The adventure covers 8 kilometers, providing both excitement and scenic views of Jurassic limestone formations. After completing the canyon walk, you transfer back to Brasov. In the evening, you check in to a 3-star guesthouse and enjoy a farewell dinner, celebrating your time in the Carpathians.
The 7 Ladders Canyon was formed by the Sapte Scari Brook cutting through Jurassic limestone, creating a unique and popular hiking destination in Romania.

Day 8: Departure Farewell | Transfer to Airport
After enjoying your final breakfast, you prepare for departure. You transfer either to Bucharest airport, which takes approximately 3 hours by road, or to Brasov airport, a shorter journey of 20 to 30 minutes. This marks the end of your itinerary and your time in the Transylvanian Carpathian villages.
