VISA, MasterCard, American Express – credit and charge cards are accepted in almost all departmental stores, supermarkets, petrol stations and restaurants. Payment using e-wallets are also available in most shops and stores here. Look out for the e-wallet logo displayed at payment counters. *Local Time* Standard Malaysian Time is 8 hours ahead of GMT (GMT+8) *Usual Office Hours* Monday to Friday from 8am – 12pm and 1pm – 5pm; Saturday from 8am – 1pm (Hours vary by 30minutes to an hour). Government offices close on Saturday & Sunday. *Shopping* Shopping centres, supermarkets, restaurants and mini markets are generally open daily from 10am to 10pm *Tipping* Food and beverages at restaurants, cafes, clubs and hotels generally include 10 per cent service charges. Tipping is not obligatory but can be given in appreciation of good service. *Electricity & Water Facilities* Electricity is on the 240 Volts AC/ 50-Cycle system; treated pipe water is available in most urban and sub-urban areas. Type G plugs are used in Malaysia. Drink only boiled water or bottled water. *Communications* Mobile telecommunications cover many parts of Sabah with the exception of some remote areas. Public phones are scarcely available throughout Sabah. *Medical* Government hospitals, clinics and dispensaries are available in all towns. The list of private medical facilities and pharmacies can be found on website or through your travel agency. Travellers with specific medical needs should bring enough supply of medications for their trip.
