Accommodation:
The Rock of Cashel, Blarney Castle & Killarney
On day two, you will depart Dublin after breakfast before travelling southeast towards the town of Killarney. Your first stop will be at the Rock of Cashel, the rock is a defensive fortress originally home to the Kings of Munster. Legend has it that the rock found its location here after a battle between St Patrick and the Devil, who had sought refuge in the mountains nearby, during the battle a large piece of rock was dislodged and landed at this site, thus the common name for the rock being “The Devil’s Bit”. From Cashel you will travel south where you will visit Blarney Castle which is surrounded with myths and tales as well as housing the famed Blarney Stone. In Irish folklore it is said, that, if one kisses the Blarney Stone they will be granted “The gift of the gab”. From Blarney Castle you will make your journey to the beautiful town of Killarney. With the backdrops of the MacGillycuddy Reeks (mountain range) and set on the banks of Lough Leane the town of Killarney is a favourite with many people searching tranquillity and the outdoors. Within the town itself there is a vibrant live music and nightlife scene where you can sing and dance the night away in the traditional Irish manner. You will spend your next 4 evenings within the 4-star Killarney Plaza Hotel, a beautiful and classical hotel which overlooks Killarney National Park.
Accommodation:
Ballybunion Golf Club (Old Course & Cashen)
On day three you will once more meet your representative within the lobby of your hotel as you will be travelling to Ballybunion Old Course. Regarded as one of the top 20 golf courses in the world, the Old Course at Ballybunion has had a turbulent history. Created in 1897 as a 9 hole golf course, it required a sizeable investment less than two decades later in order for the club to remain in business. Now the course has been fully redesigned by Tom Watson and is regarded in extremely high regards as one of the finest examples of links golf to be found in the world. After your round on Ballybunion Old, you will have a chance to enjoy lunch before playing the second course at the club, the Cashen. This secondary course to the famed Old Course still has many quirks and charms, with the course being regarded as a real hidden gem in the region. After your round, you will make your journey south once more to Killarney.
Accommodation:
Tralee Golf Club (Old Course)
On this day, you will once more be greeted by your representative within your hotel lobby. On this day you will have a longer journey to Tralee Golf Club. Arnold Palmer said of Tralee Golf Club “Never have I come across a more ideal piece of land to build a golf course” and it was here that he created this wonderful links in 1984. After your round on Tralee you will venture back to Killarney.
Dooks Golf Club
On this day you will awake in Killarney where you will be greeted by your representative within the lobby of the Killarney Plaza Hotel. You will depart to Dooks Golf Club where you will play this marvellous links course only a short distance from Killarney. Dooks Golf Club is one of the most beautiful natural courses in the world. The course blends seamlessly with its environment and is guarded to the south by the MacGillycuddy Reeks. After your round you will have the opportunity to travel along the Dingle Peninsula, regarded as an open air ancient history museum with spectacular scenery. Alternatively, you will return once more to The Killarney Plaza.
Accommodation:
Waterville Links Tee Times
On Day six you will meet your representative to depart the town of Killarney. Your first stop of the day will be on the Irish western coast where you will have the opportunity to play Waterville Links. This ancient seaside links course is regarded as one of Ireland’s top ten golf courses and its remote locations allows for some wonderful coastal views. From Waterville, you will travel north via the city of Limerick, passing through Ennis and into Co. Clare. Here you will venture to the spectacular Clare coastline with views of the Burren. You will spend the evening in the beautiful town of Spanish Point where you will reside within the Armada Hotel.
Accommodation:
Lahinch (Old) & Cliffs of Moher
On day seven, you will have the morning to relax before travel to the Cliffs of Moher, the most visited natural attraction in Ireland. It is very easy to see why, as these majestic cliffs rise 155 meters (509ft) out of the Atlantic Ocean below. The site has been featured on the big screen and silver screen on many occasions. The most famous of note is Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. From the cliffs you will arrive in the town of Lahinch and the spectacular Lahinch Old Course, home to the 2019 Irish Open. Founded in 1892 this ancient links is nestled within the natural sand dunes which dominate this entire course.
