place Accra

Welcome to the thriving metropolis of Accra, which today combines modern buildings with those from colonial times to offer you a sense of a wonderful experience. After a lavish breakfast at your hotel, you go out to see this 120-year-old city's historical attractions.

The W.E.B. Du Bois Center, which honors the life of the well-known Pan-Africanist who decided to reside and work in Ghana, will be our first stop. We'll keep going to Independence Square, where you can witness the encased African Liberation Flame, which was established there in 1961 by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The first president of Ghana's last resting place is the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. There is a nearby museum that is adjacent to lovely gardens and displays images, artifacts, and information on Dr. Nkrumah's life.

Continue through Makola Market,  Ghana’s largest open-air market.

place Accra - Kumasi

After breakfast, ride through the forest zone to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Empire, to learn more about the legendary Ashanti's and their lasting heritage. Visit the Mampong Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine after a lovely journey through the Aburi Mountains. The Center carries out research on the use of plant medicine to treat a wide range of ailments. Arrive in Kumasi in the late afternoon, then tour Manhyia Palace, which served as the Asantehene's formal residence until 1974. The palace is now a museum that houses precious artifacts from the Ashanti Kingdom. If we have time, we will visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword site, which is close by. This site symbolizes the location where the Golden Stool "descended from the sky" and has been in existence for 300 years. It is a significant symbol of Ashanti togetherness. Legend has it that if the sword were ever taken away, the Ashanti Kingdom would fall. Transfer to your hotel for the night; free time in the evening.

Day 4

place Kumasi - Craft Village

You will see the three craft communities in Kumasi's surrounding verdant countryside after breakfast. Our first artisan village will be Bonwire, where we can observe how the renowned Kente cloth is manufactured by hand on looms according to a long-standing custom that has been handed down through the years. View the Kente fashions and take advantage of the opportunity to buy. We could pay the paramount chief of this village a courtesy visit. In the town of Ntonso, artisans' hand-stamp designs onto cotton fabric to create Adinkra textiles.

For funerals and other somber events, black-on-black and black-on-red Adinkra cloth is worn; discover how the black dye is manufactured in the village from tree bark and make your own Adinkra sash to take home. Additionally, you can buy sizable pieces of the village-made Adinkra cloth. We travel to the Ahwiaa Woodcarving Village, where skilled artisans carve Fertility Dolls, regal seats, and walking sticks from wood. Here, customers can buy a variety of hand-carved objects. Take a quick walk through the forest, where you can watch birds, butterflies, and perhaps even over 40 different species of mammals, such as monkeys and the rare forest elephant. Go to the canopy walk now. Africa's only aerial walkway across the forest canopy, a 1000-foot path with seven bridges and viewing platforms that rise more than 150 feet above the earth, is located in Kakum.

This evening you will enjoy performance by the local bamboo orchestra, Mesomagor. The group consists of young villagers who have revived a traditional art by performing music and dance with bamboo percussion instruments.
