Day 1

place Cancun Arrical

Arrive at the airport and collect your vehicle at the rental company's counter. Meeting directly at the counter at the end of the car park in front of terminal 2. The rental agency will offer you more complete insurance, be careful it can be very expensive. An English-speaking guide will meet you, help you with paperwork and provide you with a road map.

Day 2

place Head to Tulum

We drive south through the entire Riviera Maya, with its endless beaches, its turquoise sea, which hosts the second largest coral reef in the world. Arrival in Tulum where we spent the night.

Day 3

place Glorious Cenote Sac Actun

This morning, discover the extraordinary Cenote Sac Actun. Cenotes are natural pools of fresh and crystalline water created millions of years ago by a meteorite. With over 150 km (93 miles) of underwater galleries, Sac Actun is the largest network of underground rivers in Mexico. The Maya considered it a gateway to the underworld. Take the opportunity to swim in a truly unique and magical setting. One thing is certain, you will leave completely transformed. Return to Tulum in the afternoon.

Day 4

place Bacalar; Lagoon of Seven Colours

In the morning, head south along the Caribbean coast and arrive in Bacalar. The Laguna Bacalar is a 50-km (31-miles) long and 2-km (1.25-miles) wide lagoon, surrounded by a beautiful mangrove forest. It earned the nickname ‘the lake of seven colours’ for its incredible water color variations. Optional introduction to waterskiing or wakeboarding (non-included), and for the less adventurous possibility to go on a boat tour (non-included). Spend the night in Bacalar.

Day 5

place A day of Ecotourism Kayaking

Spend the day kayaking across the beautiful lagoon of Bacalar. Instructions and training will be given before the tour begins. After 1 hour kayaking across the lagoon, enter the peaceful mangroves where many bird species can be spotted. If you are lucky you may see snakes, tapirs or even crocodiles. Travel through these canals for two hours before rejoining the lagoon. Then, take a break on a small beach where you will have time to swim. After, return to Bacalar for a well deserved rest at the hotel.

Day 6

place Drive to Uxmal

This morning, depart from Bacalar after breakfast and travel across the Yucatan Peninsula towards the archeological site of Uxmal. You will arrive at your accommodation in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Note : The drive from Bacalar to Uxmal is about 5 hours long. It's possible to visit the Museum of Cocoa. Here you will learn about the history of chocolate and how it is closely linked with Mayan history. See how cacao has transformed from the prehispanic era, when it was used as a bargaining tool, to the bars of chocolate we know and love today. With your own eyes see the cacoa from the tree to the final product and prepare your own beverage with a choice of ingredients. Note : Entrance fees are not included.

Day 7

place Tour cenote off the beaten tracks

Conquer the city of Uxmal The site is peaceful and not widely visited by tourists... You will love it ! Uxmal, in Mayan language, means “Thrice Built”, but in reality the city was constructed five times. The water is really scarce in the region, this explains the omnipresence of representations of the rain god Chac-Mool. Tour cenote off the beaten tracks Cenotes are natural pools of fresh and crystalline water, where the sunrays create spectacular lighting effects. We explore 2 cenotes, and take a refreshing swim in the forest. One thing is certain, you will leave completely transformed. Arrival in Mérida at the end of the day.

Day 8

place A Little Paradise Near Merida

This morning, drive along this incredible coastline to a small fishing port. Here, you will explore the beautiful, peaceful lagoons by kayak. Gaze upon flora and fauna and spot the beautifully graceful flamingos that live here in the mangroves. Cross the lagoon to refresh yourselves in an ojo de agua, a small source of fresh water. During this boat trip we will take part in a treasure hunt, which will test our sense of observation and orientation. We will sail in the heart of the wilderness, surrounded by animals such as flamingos and we will cross mangroves to an "ojo de agua": a fresh water spring in which we will cool down and relax. During this adventure, we will have to be vigilant about the environment that surrounds us... because clues will be hidden here and there and we must solve this quest if we want to discover... The "local treasure"! Back on the boat, a romantic picnic lunch on a beach, in a unique and peaceful place.

Day 9

place Holbox Paradise

Today, head to dreamy Isla Holbox via Puerto Chiquila. Hop on the ferry to Holbox which leaves every half an hour. Discover this peaceful island, its beaches still unreached by mass tourism and its welcoming population of fishermen families. You will find no cars here, just sandy tracks with the occasional golf cart. If you come in the right season it's possible to see whale sharks just off the coast of this island! Taxi price on the island: around 50 pesos one way trip. Ferry price: around 200 pesos one way trip. Note : You cannot take the rental car to Holbox island. There are secure car parks in the small town of Chiquila where it is safe to leave the car. The cost is approximately 100 pesos per day.

This morning, depart from your hotel and take a ferry (not included) back to the mainland. Collect your vehicle and continue your journey through Yucatán. Taxi price on the island: around 50 pesos one way trip. Ferry price: around 200 pesos one way trip. Then, head to Cancun airport and arrive at least 3 hours before your international flight is due to take off. Return the rental car to the Hertz desk.
