Early in the morning you will leave the hotel and have journey for 4 hours to Troya and visit Troya ancient city. Troya , Ilion in greek,Troia in Latin, has a very different history than all the ancient cities you can visit in Turkey. First of all, location of the city is very strategic, it is just at the enterance of the dardenelos water canal at the narrowest point. For many centuries all the traders paid tax to Troya city to be able to enter the canal without any problem. This makes the city very rich and important. History of the city goes back to 3000 B.C. The most interesting fact about the city, at the same point 9 cities was built on top of each other, so city has 9 layers. Troya I dates back to 3000 B.C., and the last Troya is from Roman period. Troya is famous that greek colonists deceived and conquered city with a huge wooden horse that soldiers were hidden inside.
