You can find several natural "pools" formed by the coral reefs that are exposed and enjoy the waves on a surfboard. Visit the Gandoca - Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, where the combination of forest, beach, and sea landscapes, added to the local culture makes the site a paradisiacal place. It protects the habitat of endangered species such as the manatee and sea turtles. Its most important ecosystems are its yellow sand beaches and wetlands (swamps, lagoons, flooded forests, coral reefs, beds of marine plants, and algae).
