Day 1

place Tehran, Arrival Day

Arrival in Tehran, meet and transfer to hotel for overnight.

Day 2

place Tehran – Fuman (345 km)

Morning drive to Fuman, located 27 km from Rasht and 356 km from Tehran. This ancient city is well known for natural landscapes as Shanderman and Masal summer quarter, Masoule village, historical sites as Rudkhan castle as well as cultural attractions of Gilak and Talesh tribes. On the way visit Gilan Rural Heritage Museum, then En route to Shaft Village eco lodge to have lunch and enjoy Gilan indigenous food culture then take part in workshop for baking local bread and cookie (Kolocheh), in the afternoon visit Masuleh, have nice evening at Masouleh. Fuman overnight.

Day 3

place Fuman – Zanjan (214 km)

In the morning, leave for Zanjan and see the magnificent brick dome of 14th century, Gonbad-e-Soltaniyeh (UNESCO World Heritage), the mausoleum of Olijaytu, the last Mongol/Il-Khanid Ruler of Iran (1304-1330). It is remarkable in many different architectural aspects, the dome is about 49 meters high and ranks amongst the largest domes in the world. Continue to visit the historical edifice of Rakhtshooy Khaneh/ wash-house as anthropology museum today and Zanjan traditional grand bazaar in the ancient network of the city with 8 segments (each to do with a specific guild) such as textiles, jewel merchants, hat ware, foot ware, fruit sellers, saddle-makers etc. Overnight in Zanjan.

Day 4

place Zanjan – Tabriz (307 Km)

Drive to Tabriz and start city tour including the Blue mosque of Tabriz, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture built upon the order of Muzaffar al-Din Jahan Shah the ruler of Kara Koyunlu dynasty which made Tabriz the capital of his Kingdom. We will then visit the small exquisite Azerbaijan Museum, and the Citadel, it is the remnants of a large acropolis fortification and city wall in downtown Tabriz. Then we have oriental walking through the wonderfully constructed Tabriz Grand Bazaar, a UNESCO World Heritages Site, the largest covered bazaar in the world and second oldest after the one in Aleppo. Also spend some time in the Grand Bazaar – GHORABIEH demonstration in Tabriz on how to make this local sweet. Sunset visit to El Goli Park. Tabriz overnight.

Day 5

place Tabriz- Kandovan village – Tabriz

Today we will have a visit to the picturesque ancient village of Kandovan to see how people have cut their homes out of the volcanic rocks. On the way we stop over on Osku to have silk scarf making workshop. Afternoon back to Tabriz. Tabriz overnight.

Day 6

place Tabriz – Meshkin Shahr - Ardabil

Drive to Ardabil, a gateway to the historic cities and snow-caped mountains of eastern Azerbaijan from the low-lying, fertile Caspian, Ardabil makes for an interesting stopover. Drive to Ardabil via Meshkin Shahr, located in North of Ardabil, the city with an eye catching scenery to Sabalan summit. Stop over to visit Hanging Bridge 80 meters above the Khiyav River, with the length of 365 meters it is the longest Suspended footbridge in Middle East built in 2015. Continue to Ardabil to visit Sheikh Safi al-din Khanqah and Shrine Ensemble (UNESCO’s heritage), an oriental walk at the walkway; then drive to Sarien city (35km), have relaxing evening at city of mineral Saps, Ardabil overnight.

Day 7

place Ardabil –Astara --lankaran- Masalli

Enjoy the picturesque Heyran road to Astara, and continue to Iran- Azerbaijan boarder to set off to Azerbaijan. Drive to Masalli and stop over at Lankaran, famous for the first port in the Caspian. Have oriental walk at port and visit the main historical sights of Lankaran, built in the XVIII century, a mosque Kichik-Baza and lighthouse. Drive to Masali and relax in the evening at Masalli in the hot spring.

Day 8

place Masalli – Gobustan- Baku

Get prepared to be astonished at the open air museum or Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape to see the rock paintings and the interpretive museum that illustrates the geologic changes that have occurred in the area and how they have impacted the people living there. To see more of Azerbaijan’s geologic wonders we will visit the Mud Volcanoes. Afterwards, our next stop is at the Yarat Art Gallery and the H. Aliyev Foundation Art-Painting Centre next to the Yarat Center, an art collective formed to promote local and international art. After having dinner we will do some shopping in modern Baku. Overnight in Baku.

Day 9

Our tour through the city will start at Martyrs Lane – a cemetery dedicated to those killed fighting against the Soviets, Dagistu Park where we will have a panoramic view of the city, then we proceed to Icheri Sheher or Old City, for a walking tour. Within the walls of the Old City we will see Maiden Tower and the Shirvanshah Palace. After lunch we will visit the Yashil Bazar, and then the Azerilme carpet factory, and the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, to see the Treasures of Azerbaijan. If the weather is not windy and boats work our tour will end with a 1 hour public boat tour of Baku bay. Baku overnight.
