Your Japanese adventure begins with a door-to-door shared shuttle transfer. As you drive into the city, witness the evolution of the landscape from rural outskirts to towering neon-lit skyscrapers. After checking into your hotel, explore your immediate neighborhood and discover the fascinating 24-hour konbini culture. These stores are a marvel of Japanese efficiency, offering everything from high-quality seasonal snacks to freshly prepared meals and local stationery. Take a light stroll to find a neighborhood jinja (shrine), often tucked between modern buildings, where you can witness the quiet local tradition of bowing and clapping before the deities.

In the afternoon, we recommend visiting the Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa to see Tokyo's oldest temple, or heading to the Shibuya Crossing to experience the world’s busiest intersection. Complete the famous "Hakone Loop": start with the Tozan Switchback Train winding up the mountainside, then board the Hakone Ropeway. This cable car glides over Owakudani, an active volcanic valley where you can see steam rising from the earth and try the famous "black eggs" boiled in natural hot springs. Descend to Lake Ashi for a cruise on a Pirate Ship. If the weather is clear, you will have iconic views of Mt. Fuji reflecting on the water. Finish the loop by walking a preserved section of the Old Tokaido Road, lined with ancient cedar trees.
Transport: Train to Odawara (JR Pass) + Local Circuit (Freepass).

These areas are the heart of traditional culture; walk the sloped streets of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, which are lined with traditional tea houses and shops selling Kiyomizu-yaki pottery. As dusk falls, head to the Hanamikoji street in Gion. Keep your eyes open for Geiko and Maiko (apprentice geisha) in their elaborate kimonos as they hurry to their evening appointments. For dinner, the Pontocho Alley offers a narrow, atmospheric pedestrian street filled with restaurants overlooking the Kamo River.

In the evening, head to Okonomimura (Okonomiyaki Village). This is a unique three-story building housing over 25 different stalls, each specializing in Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki. Unlike the Osaka version, Hiroshima’s pancake is layered with noodles, cabbage, pork, and egg. Sitting at the counter allows you to interact with the chefs and other diners, making it a warm, social introduction to the city's modern culture.

Explore the Peace Memorial Park and its various monuments, including the Children's Peace Monument. The tour then takes you away from the main tourist paths, cycling along the scenic Ota River and through quiet local residential areas. You’ll hear personal stories of the city’s reconstruction and see how Hiroshima has blossomed into a "City of Water" with lush parks and a vibrant, forward-looking spirit.

Explore the "Kuidaore" (eat until you drop) culture. You must try Takoyaki (octopus balls) and Kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) from the street stalls. For a break from the crowds, walk through the Hozenji Yokocho, a narrow stone-paved alley that feels like old Osaka, and visit the Hozen-ji Temple where locals splash water on a moss-covered statue for good luck.
