Start your South African experience with a full day walking tour of Johannesburg (including a choice of museums). Brunch at a Gourmet Artisanal Food Market., Transfer to Dinokeng Big Five Game Reserve (B/D)


Before leaving Johannesburg, you will visit a gourmet artisanal food market for a delicious brunch. Afterwards, transfer to Dinokeng Big Five Game Reserve where you can experience a micro-light flight or a 2-hour drive in the game reserve, weather permitting.

Today you will arrive at the child care center in a rural and pristine game reserve. The next two weeks will be spent helping teachers and staff as well as interacting with the children and helping them learn and grow. The next two weeks will keep you busy as you will have a variety of different volunteer responsibilities so that your time at the care center is fresh, rewarding, and fun! You will help teachers and staff with daily tasks as well as interacting with the children to assist them through learning and play!

As a volunteer you will be in charge of cleaning and decorating the daycare center and playgrounds, teaching basic movement skills for preschool children, which includes singing, dancing and playing with children. You will have an amazing chance to help children in so many different ways. You'll be able to explore all the moving parts that are involved in an organization that helps underprivileged children. You will help behind the scenes as well as getting to interact and play with the children directly! For example, help under stimulated kids develop their motor skills through sports and play! You will also help teachers make teaching aids and prepare for creative activities, make food and material for special events, sort and distribute donations and assist with recycling projects. Additionally, your role may include playing, entertaining and stimulating the babies. Changing of nappies, bathing and creaming the little ones, feeding the babies, cleaning facilities, washing clothes and bedding may also be your responsibility. You will also get your hands dirty, help garden and build vegetable tunnels and fruit trees to provide local produce to the children! This volunteer experience is unique in that you will get to help in so many ways.
