This 5-day Kenya trip combines Kasigau community culture, nature, and WWI history, a stop in Tsunza village, travel on the SGR through Tsavo East National Park, time at Diani Beach, and a full-day Wasini Island dhow excursion with dolphin spotting, marine park snorkeling, and a coral garden visit.

Day 1: Nairobi to Kasigau | Train to the community foothills
Your trip starts with an early morning transfer to the SGR station in Nairobi for the train journey to Voi. Along the way, you pass Kenya’s open landscapes and rural countryside. On arrival in Voi, your local guide meets you and transfers you to a local restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, continue by road to the Kasigau Community, set between Tsavo East and Tsavo West at the foot of Kasigau Hill. You arrive in the afternoon, then spend the rest of the day in community-based cultural activities. These include meeting local community members, watching traditional dances and storytelling, seeing basket weaving demonstrations by Kasigau women, and joining a tree-planting activity that supports conservation efforts.
In the evening, take in a scenic sundowner overlooking the vast plains with light snacks, then have dinner around a bonfire.
Mount Kasigau held strategic importance during World War I, when British and German soldiers used the area to monitor enemy movement.

Day 2: Kasigau Nature and Culture | Ecology walks and WWI history
After breakfast, spend the day exploring the natural and ecological richness of Kasigau. Join guided nature walks and eco-learning experiences around the Kasigau ecosystem. You also learn about indigenous plants and trees, including their traditional uses, and engage with community conservation initiatives.
Lunch is included during the day. In the afternoon, visit the Kasigau historical site to understand the First World War events that took place in the region, especially the encounters between British and German forces and the lasting impact these had on the local community and its history. Return in the evening for time to relax.
The First World War campaign in East Africa extended into parts of present-day Kenya, where local communities were directly affected by military movements and conflict.

Day 3: Kasigau to Diani | Tsunza stop en route
After breakfast, leave Kasigau and travel toward the Kenyan coast. On the way, stop at the Tsunza Community, a coastal village known for its rich mangrove ecosystem and sustainable community projects.
During your time in Tsunza, take guided nature walks through the mangrove forests, spend time interacting with the village community, and gain insight into local coastal livelihoods and conservation efforts. Lunch is arranged within the community setting.
After lunch, continue to Diani Beach, Kenya’s best-known coastal destination, recognized for its white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to relax and enjoy the coastal setting.
Mangrove forests along the Kenyan coast play an important role in protecting shorelines and supporting marine and village livelihoods.

Full Day Wasini IslandDay 4: Wasini Island Excursion | Dhow cruise, dolphins, and coral garden
Pick up from your hotel is at 7.30am for a scenic drive south through coastal villages and coconut plantations to the historic fishing village of Shimoni. There, you board a traditional dhow to begin your sea excursion.
The day includes a dhow cruise from Shimoni for dolphin spotting and snorkeling in Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park. Afterward, continue to Wasini Island for a seafood lunch and a guided tour of the local coral garden.
Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park is one of Kenya’s protected coastal marine areas, known for coral reefs and dolphin habitats.

Day 5: Diani to Nairobi | Return by SGR train
After breakfast, transfer to the SGR station at Mombasa Terminus for your return train journey to Nairobi.
When you arrive, continue with a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward international departure flight.
The Standard Gauge Railway links Nairobi and Mombasa and is a key overland travel route between Kenya’s capital and coast.
