KASIGAU BASE CAMP
Your trip starts with an early morning transfer to the SGR station in Nairobi for the train journey to Voi. Along the way, you pass Kenya’s open landscapes and rural countryside. On arrival in Voi, your local guide meets you and transfers you to a local restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, continue by road to the Kasigau Community, set between Tsavo East and Tsavo West at the foot of Kasigau Hill. You arrive in the afternoon, then spend the rest of the day in community-based cultural activities. These include meeting local community members, watching traditional dances and storytelling, seeing basket weaving demonstrations by Kasigau women, and joining a tree-planting activity that supports conservation efforts.
In the evening, take in a scenic sundowner overlooking the vast plains with light snacks, then have dinner around a bonfire.
Mount Kasigau held strategic importance during World War I, when British and German soldiers used the area to monitor enemy movement.
