Day 1

place Sightseeing tour of Prizren & Prishtina

Prizren, considered to be the cultural capital of Kosovo, this charming, vivacious town with mountains all around is a real treasure hidden in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula. We travel towards Prizren in the morning. We arrive in Prizren in about 2 hours and meet our local guide for a walking tour of the city entering the Sinan Pasha Mosque, The Church of Our Lady of Ljevis (UNESCO), The Museum of Prizren League and the Ottoman Old Town known for its gold and silver filigree craftsmen. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and leave the town for the capital of Kosovo, Prishtina. In the afternoon, have a walking tour of Prishtina to discover the city with its many mosques, cathedrals and markets.

Day 2

place Adem Jashari Memorial Complex & Patriarchal Monastery of Peja (UNESCO)

Today we drive to the village of Prekaz, home of Adem Jashari, considered one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the leader of the armed resistance against the Serbian president Slobodan Milošević and his regime. Visit the Memorial Complex and Museum. For the “political tourist” this is a chilling view of what was left from the Serbian attack on the Jashari’s houses. After three days of continuous shelling, Adem and more than fifty members of his extended family (including women, children, and the elderly) were killed; only one survived. Besarta, Adem’s niece, who was ten years old at the time, was the only one to live through the attack. Head for lunch in a local restaurant at the Waterfall of White Drin. Transfer for a visit at the Patriarchal Monastery of Peja, dating back from the 12th century. One of the strongholds of the Serbian Orthodox religion in the region, admire its many frescoes and the peaceful atmosphere. Reach the town of Peja and get settled in the hotel. Enjoy a relaxing evening in Peja.

Day 3

place The Bazaars of Peja & Gjakova and Decan Monastery (UNESCO)

Today, we travel to Durrës. Set off on a guided tour of the City Walls, Byzantine Forum, Roman Thermal Baths, the Venetian Tower and the Amphitheater and enjoy the city’s street art around the ancient ruins. Spend your morning strolling around the Old Bazaar of Peja. Transfer to Decan Monastery, a stunning white building with a small cupola founded in the 14th century. Go inside the church to admire the frescoes with various scenes from the Bible. A curiosity: Orthodox monks still live here and produce fresh organic foods, like cheeses and wines. The tour continues to Gjakova dating back to the Ottoman Empire. Enjoy lunch and explore Kosovo’s oldest bazaar with first-class craft shops , known for its gold-plated wedding attire. Travel to Tirana in the late afternoon. (Hotel accommodation in Tirana is not included on tour)
