The adventure begins at the meeting point, where you'll make your way to the subway to reach a hidden gem of a market, which even some locals haven't discovered yet. Here, you'll dive into the fascinating history of the market and learn about its evolution over the first half of the 20th century. If you're a fan of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, you'll love discovering the secrets of this market that's closely tied to their story.

Next, we'll hop back on public transportation to head to the witchcraft market, one of the most unusual and eccentric spots in the city. Get ready to be dazzled by the kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, and smells that fill the air in this market. From colorful piñatas to voodoo dolls and magic potions, this market is truly a feast for the senses. You might even discover a cure for a hangover here!

After this unforgettable experience, we'll make our way to the biggest flower market in Mexico City. Here, you'll be awed by the incredible variety of exotic flowers on offer. As you stroll along the aisles, you'll also discover fresh fruits and vegetables, traditional food, and local herbs and spices. Sample some of the tastiest bites that the market has to offer, from delicious tamales and mole to fresh fruit juices and tepache.

Last but not least, we'll stop at a local patio for a final sample of traditional Mexican cuisine. Here, you'll savor the flavors of Mexico and reflect on the incredible adventure you've just had. As we say our goodbyes, you'll leave with memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. Don't miss out on this exciting journey through Mexico City's most vibrant markets!

Day 3

place Teotihuacan Day Tour

Ancient pyramids, town, local businesses, and a delicious meal... sounds like a recipe for an amazing day outside Mexico City!

Head out of Mexico City by public transit (depending on the size of the group), experiencing how locals move about this crowded city. Hop off at the archaeological area of the Teotihuacan pyramids, where you’ll learn about the people who once lived here and all the mysteries that still surround this site. As you tour the grounds, you’ll see the Moon Pyramid, the Calzada de los Muertos (Dead Pass), and the Sun Pyramid, which is the tallest and most spectacular in the area, it’s 63 metres to the top!

After exploring the pyramids, we’ll continue the day walking through the streets of a nearby town. Our first stop will take us into a family-run business where you will learn about ‘obsidian’, the material that the Teotihuacan people use as the main element to make their tools, idols, and decorations. As well, you’ll get to sip an ancient sacred drink called ‘pulque,’ which is extracted from the heart of the maguey (another kind of cactus) considered by some to be the great-grandfather of tequila.

To finish our journey, we’ll visit a local family for a nice meal. Their business is catering, so you’ll be in good hands to try some traditional dishes. Their menu is always changing based on whatever they’ve cooked for the day, but there’s always delicious options for every palate.

Visit markets

As a young Latvian girl, I moved to Denmark to start my journey aboard. While living in Denmark, I traveled around Europe quite a bit. I have lived a while in Tanzania & now have found myself living in Mexico and slowly exploring the Americas!
