Private Tour of Mexico City with Anthropology
Explore the rich culture and history of Mexico City with a guided tour of its best attractions and monuments, then admire Mexico's pre-Columbian heritage with a visit to the National Museum of Anthropology. Your tour begins at the National Museum of Anthropology, located in the Bosque de Chapultepec, a large urban park. Explore the Aztec Room of the museum to see artifacts from pre-Hispanic Mayan civilizations and learn about the mythology, ways of life, and customs of the different regions and cultures of Mexico. Admire a massive Aztec basalt calendar, a reconstruction of a Mayan tomb, and a replica of Moctezuma's feathered headdress. Visit El Zócalo, also known as the Plaza de la Constitución. This ceremonial center of ancient Tenochtitlan continues to be the heart of modern Mexico City. Admire the art nouveau style outside the Palace of Fine Arts, then head to the National Palace, a centuries-old building that was built on the grounds of what was the residence of Moctezuma. The site features murals by Diego Rivera that portray the history of Mexico from 1521 to 1930. See the famous works of art, then cross the plaza in the direction of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Sections of this Gothic building date back to 1573. To conclude, visit the market stalls and shop for products from local artisans, from woolen rugs and sheets to silver jewelry and traditional pottery.
