Your English speaking guide picks you up at the airport and drive you to your hotel in Santiago. After dropping off your luggage, discover the Chilean capital. Santiago is a modern and very active city nestled at the foot of the Andes. However, some neighborhoods have preserved their romantic charm and atmosphere. From the central Plaza de Armas to the colorful street of the bohemian and vibrant Bellavista quartier, passing through the Santa Lucía Hill, you will learn about the tumultuous Chilean history. First day of your road trip on the Carreterra Austral
Your driver takes you from your hotel in Santiago to the airport. Domestic flight from Santiago to Balmaceda (around 2h30, flight indicated in option). You pick up your rental car: Vehicle G category like Toyota Rav4 or similar, manual, with unlimited mileage and CDW insurance included. Suggested itinerary: Drive to Chile Chico, near the Argentinian border. Head South to reach Puerto Ingeniero Ibáñez from where you embark on a ferry to cross the magnificent General Carrera Lake. You then drive to your hotel in Chile Chico where you will spend the night before venturing deeper into the southern route. Make sure to check the ferry's schedule, departing from Puerto Ibañez every day except Tuesday. Estimated route: 130 km - 1h30 drive, 2h ferry ride

Road trip: from Chile Chico to Puerto Guadal
Suggested itinerary: Today, leave Chile Chico and drive further on the Carretera Austral. The scenery starts changing, you leave the steep cliffs around Lake General Carrera to enter greener surroundings. Take your time to drive along Lake General Carrera. The road is beautiful, you will probably make many stops, before arriving to Puerto Guadal. Estimated route: 105 km - 2h20

Road trip: from Puerto Guadal to Tortel
Suggested itinerary: Head further north on the Carretera Austral to reach the small fishing village of Tortel. On the way, stop near the Rio Baker. Visit Tortel, a village at the end of the world, located at the entrance of the fjord, leading to an infinity of islets. Tortel has the peculiarity of being surrounded by water, people move on footbridges within the village. Estimated route: 200 km - 3h30

Day at leisure to rest or wander around and explore the surroundings. Hikes are also accessible from your hotel such as the mirador hike (rugged trail, about 3 hours walk) which offers a sublime panorama of the fjords and the Rio Baker.

Road trip: from Tortel to Puerto Bertrand
Suggested itinerary: Leave the charming village of Tortel to head north and reach Puerto Bertrand, on the Lake General Carrera. You will drive along the Baker river and the surrounding glaciers that give the impression to be in Canada. Estimated route: 175 km - 3h

Hike in Patagonia National Park
Suggested itinerary: Today, discover the Patagonia National Park, which includes the Tamango National Reserve and the Parque Patagonia. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful parks in the whole region, and being one of the most recent parks in Chile, it is still very little frequented. In the heart of virgin landscapes, many hikes of different levels give you a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains, lakes and fjords. Due to its low frequentation, it is also an ideal place to meet the wildlife of Patagonia, from the majestic condor to the adorable pudú. Estimated route: 55 km - 65 min We recommend the following hikes: Lagunas Altas Trail Distance: 23 km - 14,3 mi Difficulty: medium / high Altitude difference: +/- 1268 m - 4 160 ft Avilés Trail Distance: 16 km - 10 mi Difficulty: medium / high Altitude difference: +/- 635 m - 2 080 ft Lago Chico Trail Distance: 12 km - 7,5 mi Difficulty: average Altitude difference: +/- 180 m - 590 ft

Road trip: from Puerto Bertrand to Puerto Tranquilo
Suggested itinerary: Departure from Puerto Bertrand. Head west along the Lake General Carrera until you reach Puerto Tranquilo. Estimated route: 60km - 1h10 You meet with your guide and go for a kayak trip on the Lake General Carrera to the Marble Chapels (Capillas de Marmol). Those marble blocks constitute surprising caverns, tunnels and pillars that you can visit, navigating on the turquoise waters of the lake. Duration of the tour: about 3h (of which 2 hours of kayaking)

Navigation in San Rafael Lagoon
Leave for an excursion in the Laguna San Rafael: navigation along the canals and austere fjords, rich in endemic flora and fauna. Enter the Laguna San Rafael National Park, one of the largest in Chile, and head to the lagoon. If the weather allows it, you approach the glacier in a small boat of 7 to 9 passengers, passing between floating glaciers of marvelous colors and shapes, while enjoying a good "whisky on the rocks" with thousand-year-old ice cubes. During the navigation, lunch on board. Return at the end of the day to Puerto Río Tranquilo. Duration of the tour: about 8h

Road trip: from Puerto Tranquilo to Coyhaique
Suggested itinerary: You leave Puerto Río Tranquilo and General Carrera Lake to reach the city of Coyhaique. The road follows the Cerro Castillo National Reserve, where you will look back to enjoy one last time this beautiful valley. Estimated route: 220km - 4h30

Fly from the South to the Central Region
Suggested itinerary: Drive from the town of Coyhaique to Balmaceda Airport where you drop off your car rental. Estimated time : 55 km - 1h Domestic flight from Balmaceda to Santiago (around 2h30, flight indicated in option). Your driver welcomes you at Santiago airport and drives you to Valparaíso. The afternoon is free to discover and wander around the most artistic and bohemian city of Chile. Enjoy its panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean!

Explore Valparaíso
A very special visit awaits you. You will follow your guide specialized in Valparaiso, World’s Heritage city by UNESCO, through its colorful streets. Besides all the must-see places, you will also discover the city’s street art. Learn how to appreciate and recognize the urban artist hidden behind the wonderful murals of the Alegre and Concepción hills. At the end of the day, you will meet an artist from Valparaiso who will share with you his art and techniques. Return to your hotel at the end of the day.

Visit Casablanca valley for some great wine tasting
Your driver picks you up at your hotel and you head to the Casablanca Valley. Enthusiasts of oenology and fine connoisseurs enjoy this region famous for its grape varieties Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, and more recently for its Pinot Noir. Almuerzo tour with the Villard family In the Casablanca Valley, discover the vineyard Villard, this small independent vineyard run by the Franco-Chilean family Villard. After a first welcome drink, visit the estate and discover the history and the beginning of the vineyard and the Tanagra line. Then go to visit the cellar and the barrel room always by a member of the Villard family (Thierry or his son Jean-Charles), followed by the tasting that will be done around a full lunch (starter, main dish) to marry the best wine and food. Lunch includes a wine from the Expresion line, 3 wines from the Grand Vin line and a wine from the Tanagra line.
