Embark on a beautiful 3-hour walk through the Andes, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and stunning valleys. Your destination is Soraypampa (3,920m), your first camp nestled among mighty mountains. Relax and enjoy a nourishing lunch with awe-inspiring vistas all around.

Laguna de Humantay Adventure

Lace up for an afternoon hike towards the captivating Laguna de Humantay. The ascent takes about 1.5 hours each way, rewarding you with sparkling turquoise waters and jaw-dropping mountain scenery—an unforgettable highlight of the day.

First Night Under the Stars

Salkantay Pass – Peaks and Jungle Descent

Summit Morning: The High Pass Challenge

Embark on a thrilling 4-hour ascent to the jaw-dropping Salkantay Pass at 4,650m—the trek’s highest point—set between the towering peaks of Salkantay (6,267m) and Humantay (5,900m). Feel the thrill of standing among giants, with unforgettable panoramic views and even a dusting of fresh snow if you’re lucky! For those needing a boost, optional horse rentals are available for the climb.

Downhill Traverse to Huayracpampa

From the windswept heights, descend for 2 hours into the valleys below. Arrive at Huayracpampa for a well-deserved and hearty lunch, refueling your body for the trek ahead.

Into the High Jungle: Approaching Colcapampa

Continue your journey with a 3-hour trek that gradually transitions from alpine landscapes to the lush, green embrace of the high jungle. Your campsite awaits at Challhuay or Colcapampa (2,900m), where you can relax, reflect, and prepare for tomorrow’s new adventure.

Transfer to Santa Teresa Town

Journey Through Valleys to Aguas Calientes

Morning Trek: Santa Teresa to Hydroelectric Station

After an energizing breakfast at 8:00 am, set out from Santa Teresa on a scenic and tranquil 3-hour trek. The trail winds gently through the lush valley, offering glimpses of the surrounding mountains as you make your way to the Hydroelectric Station (1,880m). Pause here to enjoy a refreshing boxed lunch, perfect for refueling while surrounded by nature.

Afternoon Adventure: Hydroelectric Station to Aguas Calientes 

Continue your journey with a pleasant, gradual uphill hike for about 3 hours. The path follows the railway, cutting a route between the mountains and the roaring river below. Every step brings you closer to the lively town of Aguas Calientes (2,010m), nestled at the base of Machu Picchu.

Evening Relaxation: Arrival in Aguas Calientes 

Arrive in bustling Aguas Calientes, where you can finally kick off your boots and recharge after your day’s adventure. Take time to explore the colorful streets, indulge in a soothing hot shower, and soak in the anticipation of tomorrow’s Machu Picchu visit.

Culinary Experience: Dinner at a Traditional Restaurant 

As evening falls, gather for a hearty dinner at a local restaurant. Savor authentic Peruvian flavors, unwind with your travel companions, and celebrate the completion of your trek together.

Dawn at Machu Picchu, Homeward Journey

Sunrise Journey: Early Bus to Machu Picchu 

Before dawn, board one of the first buses from Aguas Calientes for a 25-minute ride up the winding mountain road. Arrive at Machu Picchu just as the morning mist lifts to reveal the majestic Lost City bathed in golden light—a truly awe-inspiring sight.

Guided Discovery: Machu Picchu Walking Tour 

Embark on a guided walking tour that dives into Machu Picchu’s fascinating history and mystical architecture. Your knowledgeable guide brings the citadel’s secrets to life, from its sacred temples to iconic stone terraces.

Personal Exploration & Optional Challenge

Descent to Town: Return to Aguas Calientes

Homeward Bound: Train to Ollantaytambo, Bus to Cusco 

Board the train back through the scenic Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo, then transfer to a bus for the journey to Cusco. Arrive in the evening at Plaza San Francisco, ready to reminisce about an epic journey. From there, make your own way to your accommodation.
