ABOUT ARGENTINA Location The Argentine Republic has approximately 3, 8 million square km. It is located in the South hemisphere of the American Continent. Its 3.800 km of length extend from the 22° till the 55° South latitude. It limits with Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile in its borders and with the Atlantic Ocean to the East. The country is divided for tourism in 6 regions (Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Litoral, Norte, Cuyo and Patagonia) and politically in 23 provinces and an independent city. Connectivity Due to the vast dimensions of the country, the plane is the most common way of travelling, making it possible to combine with some terrestrial inland. Cabotage flights are arranged with different air lines. The highest elevations in all latitudes are the ones experimenting colder conditions; with an arid climate the thermal amplitude is other common characteristic. Entry requirements Foreign tourists coming from bordering countries need only their ID to enter to Argentina. Other visitors must present their valid passport. You don´t need a VISA to enter to Argentina. You will normally be granted a 90-day stay in the country. Vaccination: against cholera and yellow fever for the passengers coming from these endemic areas. Covid requirements to entry the country: -Sworn statement within 48 hours before departure. -Medical travel insurance that includes hospitalisation, quarantine, and transportation coverage of COVID-19 for those who tested positive, are a suspected case of COVID-19 infection, or are contact of a probable confirmed case.  If you are not vaccinated or have an incomplete vaccination schedule, we recommend you to take a test within 24 hours after entering the country. Official Language: Spanish Currency and means of payment Peso Argentino is the National currency of the Argentine Republic since 1992. There are bills of 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10. There are also coins, with less frequent use; of 1, 2 and 5 pesos; Normally, American dollars and Euros are accepted in the different shops; even though tourists look for change at banks or authorized exchange houses. American Express, Visa and Master Card are the standard credit cards. Exemption of VAT With the aim of boosting the growth of the tourism sector, since January 2017 foreigners arriving in Argentina are exempt from paying VAT on bed and breakfast expenses, as long as the latter is included in the price of the establishment. You must have a Passport or ID that certifies your residence outside Argentina and send a copy at the moment of making your reservation. Once you are at the hotel, the information will be checked with the immigrations’ stamp. In the case of NO SHOW or cancellations with expenses, IVA will be charged.
