Day 1

place ARRIVAL IN RIGA

Arrival in Riga, pick up rental car at the airport and check-in.

Day 2

place DICOVER RIGA

Founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert, Riga is the largest of the three Baltic capitals and boasts a real kaleidoscope of architectural styles. During a guided walking tour we will see the Art Nouveau most famous buildings on the streets of Alberta and Elizabeth.The old town with Riga’s Castle and the Three Brothers houses, which were built between the late 1400s and mid-1600s and are the oldest dwellings in the city. At lunchtime make a visit to the Riga Central Market. To try, such as smoked meats, pickled vegetables, Latvian bread, seasonal treats, and more. The market opened in 1930 and it consists of five former Zeppelin airship hangars and is one of the largest covered markets in Europe.

Day 3

place ANCIENT TRADITIONS

In the morning we will make a visit to the Latvian Ethnographic Open-air Museum. During the tour we will learn about the Latvian farmer’s life. We will have a degustation (light lunch) of local food like cottage cheese, house made bread and honey. In the afternoon visit to a household named “Carpenter’s workshop” to learn about the local wood sculpting traditions. Here we get to know typical Latvian trees, work along with experienced craftsmen, try out traditional toys and games. As well as enjoy a very special tea recipe brewed in a bonfire house. In the evening relax in a cosy guesthouse with sauna access. We stay overnight in a cosy guest house and enjoy the tranquillity that brings Latvian forest.

Day 4

place Gauja National Park

We enjoy a slow start of the day and drive to the Gauja National park and town of Sigulda. Inspired by its hills you will jump in to a soft bob and ride down the bobsleigh track in Sigulda. On the ride you will enjoy the speed, and every turn is a new and unforgettable adventure. After this exciting adventures enjoy the tranquillity of the town Ligatne. A 19th century paper mill-town that has till nowadays preserved its charms. On a guided walking tour you discover the history of Ligatne paper factory village which was one of the most modern of its time.

place Kuldiga: Charming Streets, Live History And Coffee

Kuldiga should be on the ‘must see’ list for everyone! It is the most romantic town in Latvia where you can get lost wandering around beautiful cobblestone streets and enjoying the breath of the 17th – 18th century building style. Kuldiga has been once the center of the Duchy of Courland and has preserved its spirit. The city center with the widest waterfall of Europe is so impressive that even fish start to fly! No joking, in the spring vimbas swim against the current across the waterfall and it looks like they are flying. The best is to enjoy Kuldīga slowly. During the city walking tour you will see Duke’s Pharmacy, the former Kuldiga burgomaster Stefenhagens’ house, the Town Hall Square with the former Town Hall building and the present Town Hall. The charming streets will pull you in on an exciting journey and tell you ancient stories in the live museum of Ancient Kuldiga’s Story. An interactive experience of Kuldiga’s history with real actors is waiting for you. Later you will have a chance to relax and feel the atmosphere of the town by slowly sipping a coffee at the local coffee roaster Curonia.
