Day 1

Upon arrival at Palermo Airport, your personal driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, you set out on a half-day guided walking tour to explore Palermo, a city renowned for its distinctive blend of African, Arabic, and Italian architectural influences. Your exploration begins in the historic center, where you visit the Norman Palace and the Palatine Chapel. You continue to Piazza Bellini and Piazza della Vittoria, then see the Arab-Norman Cathedral, Martorana church, Massimo Theatre, and the impressive fountain in Pretoria Square.


In the evening, you enjoy a welcome dinner at either a selected Michelin restaurant or a typical Sicilian trattoria. Dinner is not included.


Palermo’s Norman Palace, originally built in the 9th century, is one of the oldest royal residences in Europe, reflecting the island’s layered history.

In Monreale, you join a guided tour of the Cathedral, where you view the remarkable mosaics created by Byzantine artists. These mosaics depict stories from both the Old and New Testaments. After your visit, you relax at a bar in front of the Cathedral and enjoy a Granita Siciliana, a classic Sicilian frozen dessert.


The Cathedral of Monreale is famous for its extensive gold mosaics, covering over 68,000 square feet and considered among the finest examples of Norman architecture in Italy.

Cefalù’s cathedral, begun in 1131, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features impressive Norman mosaics and architecture that reflect Sicily’s multicultural past.

place Day 4: Palermo – Segesta – Scopello – Trapani | Ancient Temples and Coastal Villages

In the morning, your personal driver picks you up at the hotel lobby for the journey to Trapani, with stops in Segesta and Scopello along the way. Your first stop is Segesta, where you explore the archaeological site featuring a well-preserved fifth-century BCE Doric temple and a scenic ancient theater on Mount Barbaro. The temple’s 36 columns and its placement on a hill provide striking views over the countryside. The site’s origins are linked to myths of Troy and the Elimi people, and Segesta was historically significant in the region’s ancient conflicts.


Continuing your journey, you visit Scopello, a small and charming seaside village that serves as the southern entrance to the Zingaro Nature Reserve. Located about 40 kilometers from Trapani, Scopello is known for its picturesque setting and coastal atmosphere.


You arrive in Trapani, where the day concludes.


The Doric temple at Segesta, constructed without a roof, is considered one of the most complete examples of ancient Greek architecture in Sicily.

Today you explore Trapani, a city in northwestern Sicily known for its salt pans and historic windmills. You begin by visiting the old town, where you stroll along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, an elegant pedestrian street lined with landmarks such as the Cathedral and the Senatorial Palace. Nearby, Viale Regina Margherita offers a relaxing garden space for a leisurely walk. The Cathedral of Trapani, dedicated to St. Lawrence, showcases a Baroque façade and architectural elements from different periods, reflecting renovations from the fourteenth to eighteenth centuries.


At the edge of Trapani, you cycle through the Oriented Reserve of Salt Pans of Trapani and Paceco, recognized as one of Europe’s most famous protected areas. The 40-minute bike tour includes stops at various points of interest. You learn about the operation and differences of the historic windmills, including a visit to a mill over 400 years old. Your tour ends at the Salt Museum of Nubia, where you discover traditional salt extraction and processing techniques unique to this region.


Trapani’s salt pans have been producing sea salt since Phoenician times, and the area remains one of Italy’s most important salt-producing regions.

You begin the day with a transfer from your hotel to the pier, where you board a ferry from Trapani to Favignana Island. Favignana, often called the pearl of the Egadi archipelago, lies off Sicily’s western tip and features 33 kilometers of coastline with dramatic cliffs and caves.


Your tour starts early with a visit to the island’s fish market, offering a glimpse into the daily life and maritime traditions of Favignana. Next, you stop at the oldest pastry shop on the island to sample typical Sicilian sweets such as cannoli and cassate, prepared using ancient recipes. You continue to the tonnara and the former tuna factory, learning about the history and significance of tuna fishing and processing to the island’s identity.


In the evening, you enjoy an apéritif at one of the island’s best viewpoints, watching the sun set over the crystal-clear sea.


Favignana’s traditional tuna fishing, known as “mattanza,” was once central to the island’s economy and is still commemorated in local festivals and museums.

place Day 7: Favignana – Levanzo – Favignana | Coastal Sailing and Prehistoric Caves

Today you sail along the coasts of Favignana and Levanzo, taking in panoramic island views. A professional chef prepares lunch on board, allowing you to sample local products while surrounded by the sea. Levanzo, the smallest of the Egadi Islands, is celebrated for its natural beauty and historical intrigue.


During your cruise, you visit “Faraglione,” a scenic pebble beach with crystal-clear waters. Entering the Egadi protected marine area, you reach the Grotta Marina del Buco, where you can swim in azure waters and pass through an arch to admire striking light effects inside the cave. The journey continues to Cala del Genovese, a cave that serves as a prehistoric museum. Inside, you find graffiti and pictograms dating to the Upper Paleolithic and Neolithic periods, offering a rare glimpse into ancient island life.


Levanzo’s Grotta del Genovese contains some of the Mediterranean’s best-preserved prehistoric cave paintings, dating back over 10,000 years.

place Day 8: Favignana – Marsala – Agrigento | Salt Route and Ancient Temples

You depart Favignana by ferry, returning to Trapani. From the pier, your personal driver takes you along the “Via del Sale,” or salt way, toward Marsala. Along this route, you stop to admire historic windmills dotting the landscape. In Marsala, you visit a winery and cellars to learn about the production of Marsala wine and participate in a wine tasting.


In the afternoon, you continue to Agrigento. Upon arrival, you meet your guide at the hotel lobby for a walking tour of the Valley of the Temples. This archaeological site features a series of imposing ancient temples on a ridge facing the sea, constructed to be visible to sailors and to demonstrate the city’s divine protection. You explore the Temple of Juno, built around 450 BCE, the Temple of Concord in archaic Doric style from about 440 BCE, and the Temple of Zeus.


The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant remnants of ancient Greek civilization in the Mediterranean.
