Day 1

place Day 1: Arrival in Ljubljana | Explore the Old Town

Your journey begins the moment you land at Ljubljana Airport, where you collect your rental car and set off toward Slovenia’s charming capital. After a short drive into the city, you park near Kongresni Trg, perfectly positioned to begin exploring Ljubljana’s picturesque Old Town on foot.

Stroll through elegant squares and cobbled streets as the city’s history unfolds around you. Admire the graceful Baroque Town Hall with its distinctive clock tower and arcaded courtyard, then continue to the lively Town Square, home to the beautiful Robba Fountain, a masterpiece inspired by **Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s iconic Roman fountains and created by the renowned sculptor Francesco Robba.

A short walk brings you to the striking Ljubljana Cathedral, an early-18th-century Baroque landmark known for its ornate interior and distinctive green dome.

For panoramic views of the city, take the scenic funicular up Castle Hill to Ljubljana Castle, rising 375 meters above the Old Town. This historic fortress, largely rebuilt in the early 16th century after a devastating earthquake, offers sweeping views over the red rooftops, riverside promenades, and surrounding Alps.

After soaking in the atmosphere of Slovenia’s vibrant capital—where medieval charm meets elegant Baroque architecture—you continue your drive through the scenic countryside to Bled.

Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure—perhaps with a relaxing lakeside walk as you prepare to discover one of Slovenia’s most iconic destinations tomorrow

Day 2

place Day 2: Bled | Lake and Island Discovery

Spend the day discovering the enchanting Bled region at your own pace, surrounded by alpine scenery and timeless charm. Overlooking the emerald waters of Lake Bled, the dramatic Bled Castle stands proudly on a steep cliff, offering one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Slovenia.

The castle’s history dates back to 1004, when Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor granted the estate to Albuin of Brixen. The first fortress, built around 1011, served primarily as a defensive stronghold rather than a residence, as the bishops themselves never lived here. Today, its beautifully restored terraces reward visitors with unforgettable panoramic views of the lake, the surrounding Julian Alps, and Bled’s famous island church.

No visit to Bled is complete without gliding across the lake aboard a traditional Pletna boat. Operated by specially licensed local oarsmen, these elegant wooden boats are unique to Bled and represent a cherished cultural tradition.

As you approach the island, the fairytale setting comes fully into view. Step ashore at Bled Island and soak in the peaceful atmosphere that has made this destination famous worldwide.

The Pletna tradition has been passed down through generations, and only a handful of local families hold the historic right to operate these boats—making every ride across the lake not only scenic, but also a living piece of Bled’s heritage. 🚣‍♂️✨

place Day 3: Jasna Lake | Alpine Leisure and Activities

Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore more of Slovenia’s stunning alpine landscapes. If you wish, take a scenic drive toward the heart of the Julian Alps to visit the beautiful Lake Jasna, located just outside the charming resort town of Kranjska Gora.

Framed by dramatic mountain peaks, this picturesque alpine lake is famous for its crystal-clear turquoise water, fed by fresh mountain streams and snowmelt. The peaceful setting makes it an ideal place to slow down and enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding nature.

During your visit, you might take a refreshing swim, try kayaking, or simply relax along the lakeshore while soaking in the breathtaking views. In summer, water temperatures typically range between 15–20°C (59–68°F)—cool and invigorating, yet pleasant on warm days.

A favorite getaway for locals, Lake Jasna perfectly captures the natural beauty of Slovenia’s alpine region. Whether you’re enjoying outdoor activities or simply admiring the reflections of the surrounding peaks in the water, it’s a place where nature takes center stage.

Day 5

place Day 5: Soča Valley | Independent Exploration

You spend the day exploring the Soča Valley on your own. The region is renowned for its mountainous terrain within the Julian Alps, the unspoiled environment of Triglav National Park, and the clear waters of the Soča River. Marked hiking trails lead from the valley to remote corners high in the mountains, including routes toward Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak at 2,864 meters.

You can choose from various footpaths, some leading to mountain villages above the valleys, while others offer scenic walks through woods and gorges. The trails provide views of streams, waterfalls, alpine forests, and a diverse range of plants and animals unique to this part of the Julian Alps.

You may visit Bovec, a small alpine town at the entrance to Triglav National Park, known for its vibrant outdoor activity scene. Options include walking to the Virje Waterfall, following the route of the Isonzo Front, or visiting outdoor museums. The nearby Trenta Valley and Lepena offer picturesque landscapes and highlights such as the Source of the Soča River, the Great Soča Gorge, and the Šunik Water Grove. In this region, Julius Kugy famously admired Mount Jalovec.

You might also visit Log pod Mangartom, a village beneath the expansive Loška stena ridge, with views toward Mangart and the highest mountain road in Slovenia. If you prefer time by the water, Čezsoča provides access to the riverbanks of the Soča, and Vodenca, at the confluence of the Soča and Koritnica rivers, is a hub for local campsites. Smaller villages like Plužna, Kal-Koritnica, Žaga, and Srpenica offer quieter exploration.

For those interested in history and culture, the Tolmin Museum and the Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit at Javorca are notable, with Javorca recognized as European heritage since 2006. The Tolmin Gorges, the lowest entry to Triglav National Park, are also nearby. In the surrounding area, you might visit Most na Soči for rowing on the lake, the alpine village of Čadrg with its cheesemaking tradition, the Šentviška planota plateau for panoramic views, or take a heritage train through Baška grapa.

The Soča Valley was a significant site during World War I, particularly along the Isonzo Front, which saw some of the most intense mountain warfare in history.

As you navigate the river’s rapids, you are immersed in the unspoiled landscape, passing through areas known for their beauty and hidden features. The activity is organized with a guide and takes place in a group setting.
