Sights, Souks & Tastes of Marrakech
After breakfast at your riad, join your guide for a full-day tour of the Ochre city. You'll start out by visiting the Koutoubia Mosque, the iconic sight of Marrakech. Then tour the Bahia Palace and Saadian Tombs, where you'll be wowed by the traditional Moroccan architecture and tile mosaics of former imperial dynasties. Stop by the Mellah, or former Jewish Quarter, to learn about Morocco's little know, but very important Jewish heritage. You'll take a break mid-day to eat lunch at a cafe of your choice— we always recommend it be on the terrace of one of the many restaurants overlooking the spice markets, like Cafes des Epices, Le Nomad, or Le Jardin. Try out a trio of classic Moroccan salads and sip some mint tea before continuing with you guided tour. In the afternoon you'll explore the souks, or markets, spread through the winding alleyways of the medina. You'll see the master spice blenders in the spice Souq and can visit with shops selling traditional fashions, lamps, rugs, and any number of other Moroccan treasures. Your guide will be able to give recommendations of the best places to shop for specific wears. Finally, as day turns to night, you’ll enjoy the rest of the evening to yourself. Maybe you'll head to Djema El Fna square for a spectacle unlike any other - with snake charmers, musical performances, and acrobats, story tellers, fortune-tellers, henna tattoo artists, musicians, and food vendors, all of which combine to create a place of unparalleled energy combining for a circus of activity.

to Skoura oasis
Today’s journey takes you up and over the High Atlas. You can often see the highest peak, Mount Toubkal (4,167m), on a clear day. The Berbers (the Mountain People) live here; to see their villages and to observe their everyday farmland and village activities is fascinating. Their traditional mud-brick homes are seen plus the rapid, recent change to concrete construction. The N9 road continues to snake upwards to the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2,260m), the watershed of the High Atlas. From near to here great panoramic views can be seen, over the mountain range and the road recently traveled. As you descend the pass you will notice the climate as it becomes drier toward Ouarzazate, a town growing rapidly due to the movie industry. Here you have an option to tour one of the 2 movie studios if you like, including an up-close look at some props and sets. The nearby regions have been featured in many movies, portraying landscapes all over the desert, Africa, and the middle east. Reach Dar Ahlam in Skoura oasis; Lavish and luxurious, Dar Ahlam translates as the ‘House of Dreams’ for a reason. A renovated, 19th century kasbah (fort), this is a sleepy paradise that will inspire the most sceptical naysayer. Narrow passages lead to lantern-lit courtyards and secret terraces with conversation-ending views; all around are Balinese artefacts, muslin curtains, cushion-filled crannies. Outside, there’s a 4,500-acre palmeraie; beyond that, only the endless Sahara... Gracefully made over with all modern comforts and the necessary technology, this singular fourteen room hideaway overlooks the Atlas Mountains, with a palm shaded swimming pool, hammam and candle-lit massage room. Meals are served to you among a selection of distinct, private settings like the flourishing gardens by Louis Benech, the gifted designer of the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris and the Bosquet du Théâtre d'Eau at Versailles.

To all of these, we add elements of surprise.

Ait Benhaddou & Marrakech
In the morning, visit of the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou a UNESCO world heritage site that dates back to the 11th century and where more recently Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed. You can even stop by the movie studios and learn why Ouarzazate is called the "Hollywood of Morocco." Continue towards Marrakech on one of the most scenic drives you’re likely to take in your life, venturing through the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas mountains and back down on the other side into the dry flat plains of Marrakech. After all the tranquillity of the mountains and the desert, soon you will be in the midst of the hustle, bustle, and clamor of vibrant Marrakech.
