Day 2

place Lake Manyara National Park, Travel to Serengeti

Lake Manyara National Park Waking early you'll head out to game drive in Lake Manyara National park. The park is known for its over 400 bird species, primate-filled forests and grassy plains large area of the park is covered by the alkaline Lake Manyara, the seasonal breeding grounds for large colonies of flamingos and many more waterfowls. The park is also home to giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, impalas and groups of noisy monkeys and baboons. After an extensive game drive, you'll head back to the camp for lunch and then drive on to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park arrival day The drive takes you via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area via the Maasai lands where you'll see the local Masai Tribes herding their cattle en route to their traditional villages called Manyattas. As you descend onto the Serengeti Plains you'll see the vast vistas the park is so well known for. This park is the largest in Tanzania and has a diversity of habitats and landscapes – short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and lakes. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape where predators are often seen. The Serengeti is famous for the yearly migration when hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras trek to find fresh grass and water. After entering the park, you'll travel to the bushcamp/Lodge within the park where you'll spend the night. The campsite is unfenced with basic facilities (no running water). At night you'll hear the sounds of the wild as you sleep under a canopy of millions of stars. Lodge tours stay at an open tented camp within the park with toilet and shower facilities.

Stopping off for lunch en route, you'll drive back to the Ngorongoro conservation area and up to the Crater Rim. The campsite/Lodge is situated high approximately 2300m above sea level, so tonight can get quite chilly. With a bit of luck you'll get to see down into the crater where animals can be seen dotted along the base below. Wild animals from the crater and Serengeti as far as from other part of Ngorongoro conservation Area frequently visit the campsite/lodge which is not fenced, you should move with caution. Grass steppes and acacia forests are home to almost all the species of animals found in the East African savannah. In only a few hours, you will have the chance of spotting the big five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. After an extensive game viewing and a picnic in the crater, you'll head onward to Tarangire NP. Tarangire National park After lunch, you will drive to the Tarangire National park reaching the park in the late afternoon. Giant baobab trees, the savannah and the seasonal marshes add to the wonder of this nature reserve. The park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions.
