Negombo, The little Roam. Negombo is a major city in Sri Lanka, located in Western Province, Sri Lanka. The Bandaranayake International Airport is located close to this city. The city is known for its great and olden trawling industry with busy fish markets, sandy beaches, hotels and restaurants. Due to bounty of seafood, the town restaurants are a gourmet’s delight. place DAY WITH AN AYURVEDIC DOCTOR / COLOMBO

Enjoy your Breakfast at the hotel & let’s kick off the day with an Ayurvedic experience. A day with an Ayurvedic Doctor. Sri Lankan Ayurveda medicine is based on the country’s centuries old treasure trove of indigenous knowledge. With its ancient history, traditional Ayurveda medicine as it is practiced today in the country, is based on an indigenous heritage preserved over 3000 years. Historical information gathered from chronicles, inscriptions and epigraphic records indicate that the country’s royalty extended their patronage and custodianship to healthcare through traditional medicine. In order to get a glimpse of this practices today you will visit an Ayuvedic Doctor in Colombo suburb and will spend a day under his guidance. Here you will be guided through the beginning of Ayurveda culture and the treatments which are used for various illnesses. Ayurveda is used not only for illnesses but also for day to day wellbeing lifestyle or rejuvenation. You can obtain a wide knowledge of the values with engaging with the Doctor and you can experience an Ayurveda treatment as well during this session. Day 3

place COLOMBO / DAMDULLA

Have an early breakfast at the hotel and proceed to discover the old school way of Clay pot making in Sri Lanka. Clay work experience. Clay work which dates back to the ancient civilization is still a popular industry in Sri Lanka. Some clay pots, vessels, decorated items, sculptures and other clay equipment has been founded in archaeological excavations which proofing how old this industry was. First they prepare the clay by mixing water into it. They use the foot to mix. After the molding process pottery must be fired, to make the clay get rid of water in the clay and to get hard. Final product would be a Roofing Tile or Wall brick which are used for housing construction where they give a cold atmosphere. You can take a closer look at this experience engaging with the locals and experience the real nature of the process. After this visit start your journey to Dambulla, on the way you will pass scenic locations of rural Sri Lanka such as Lakes, paddy fields, jungles & rural villages make a stop if you like to take some pictures. To quench your thirst, you may enjoy a fresh king coconut or a lemon juice from a small time vender by the side of the road on your way. This experience is really fun & you will love it. Check in to the hotel, refresh & get ready to visit the Local market with a local family to do some shopping for tomorrows religious activity. Day 4

place DAMBULLA ALMS GIVING & BBQ DINNER

Leave early morning 6.00 AM & visit the Local family house hold to start preparation of the Alms giving food. In Sri Lanka this is a sacred activity & all the food is home made before offering. Join this process of preparing food & getting ready for Alms giving. Alms giving to a temple. Alms giving is a ritual in Sri Lanka which dates back to ancient times. In Buddhist culture Alms giving for Monks by the local people is considered as a blessing. In this unique experience you will interact with a local family and purchase the goods needed for the Alms giving in the previous day by visiting the local market. On this day you will get the chance of bargaining for goods at the market and end of the day you will reach the local house where you will be explained about the rituals and proceedings which needs to be done during the Alms giving at the temple. Early morning next day you will return to the local house and join the family to prepare the Rice & Curry lunch for the Monks. Interact yourself with the family while preparing the dishes and have a quick breakfast. After everything is prepared you will travel to the temple for the Alms giving. First you will be enchanted with prayers and later you can offer the well prepared meal for the Monks which this event is called as “Alms Giving”. Finally you will be offered with a blessed string from the monk. After this exciting experience return to the same local house hold & your Lunch is ready in a Mud hut, enjoy the lunch! Return to the hotel, unwind & get ready for the evening activity, it’s an evening Boat ride on a lake followed by a BBQ dinner by the lake. Boat Ride with BBQ Dinner by the lake. In the evening you will enjoy a calm boat ride in a catamaran witnessing the sunset over the lake. Have breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Polonnaruwa ancient site. Royal Kingdom of Polonnaruwa. It is the second kingdom in Sri Lanka & the largest city in north central province, Polonnaruwa is famous for its ancient architectural sites, natural beauty & the large lake ‘Parakrama Samudra’ built in 1200. UNESCO has declared this ancient city as one of the World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Royal kingdom of Polonnaruwa is one of the most important ancient archeological site which has a range of surprising Architectural, agricultural, irrigation & religious (Buddhist & Hindu) sites to explore & discover. After this exciting discovery proceed to see another iconic historical site in Sri Lanka, Sigiriya rock fortress in the evening. Sigiriya rock fortress. Among locals this is called as the “8th wonder of the world” absolutely marvelous fortress complex which dates back to 477 CE situated 200 meters high from the ground. This giant rock fortress has water fountains, boulder gardens, frescos, mirror wall, relics of the castle and many more exciting monuments from the bottom to the top of the complex. This is definitely the most visited tourist attraction in Sri Lanka. UNESCO has declared this ancient city as one of the World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Some people believe that Sigiriya is a post historical archeology turning point of Ravana. According to them, Sigiriya may be the Alakamandava (the City of the Gods) that was built up before 50 centuries ago by King Kubera who was the half-brother of Great king Ravana. Enjoy your breakfast and proceed to Kandy. Kandy, the city of wonders. Kandy is the hill capital of Sri Lanka, surrounded by sky kissing hills, green valleys, pure rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Kandy is also the cultural center of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO world heritage city. The most respected & celebrated Buddhist monument, the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha is placed at the Dalada Maligawa, the temple of the tooth which is the most important attraction in Kandy. Buddhist devotees from all over the world visits this place all year around. KCC shopping mall, the ancient lake in the middle of the city, Gem museums, souvenir shops & many more modern & ancient attractions are available in Kandy. Enjoy the breakfast & its your day to discover the Famous scenic Ella city & visit Yala for wildlife experience. Ella. The beautiful hill country village surrounded by mountains, tea plantations and greenery everywhere you go. Ella is the best place to relax and wind down and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The Ella Gap offers a stunning view and on a clear night you can see the subtle glow of the Great Basses light house in the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The Ravana Ella Falls is another spectacular sight in Ella, the perfect place for a quick dip in the cool waters. Ella’s Rock offers a breathtaking view of the countryside, the walk up to the rock itself is beautiful, passing through rail tracks and tea plantations. Proceed to Yala national park for a fun filled Wildlife safari ride. Yala National Park. Yala National Park is located between Southern and Uva Provinces of Sri Lanka. It is the second largest park of the country and is also one of the earliest wild sanctuaries. The largest breed of leopards are found in this area. Probably sighting months of leopards are from January to July. Two prominent pilgrim sites are also situated within the park. The park was severely damaged during the 2004 Tsunami catastrophe. Enjoy the breakfast at the hotel and visit a Local family which produce DODOL (A sweet tradition snack) engage & interact with the family members & enjoy the true rural hospitality. Dodol Making. ‘Dodol’ which is a favorite delicacy in Sri Lanka is a sweet / candy snack and is specially produced in Tissamaharama region. Dodol is made from Coconut milk, Jaggery and Rice flour which has a process and today you will get the chance of learning it. You will visit a local family who make Dodol as their income by selling it to the local shops; you will get the experience of interacting with the local family and learning the tips & secrets of the process during this activity. This will be fun to watch while learning where it takes time to keep mixing all the ingredients together. Finally you will have a thick paste where it needs to lay out and keep it to dry. At the end of the experience you will be gifted with a pack of Dodol to take home or enjoy while in Sri Lanka. After this experience proceed to Kataragama religious site which is a combination of Buddhist & Hindu religion & culture Kataragama. The small remote town of Kataragama is an important pilgrimage site in Sri Lanka and a holy place for Buddhists, to seek divine assistance. It is a wonderful place where the legends become real, and wafting magical smell of incense is intoxicating. The shrine is believed to be built by King Dutugemunu in the 2nd century BC, dedicated to the Kataragama Deviyo (God). The famous Kataragama festival is when then sleepy quiet town comes alive. It is a primetime for devotees for pilgrimage. The Kirivehara and the Maha Devale shrine are two other places rich in Buddhist culture in Kataragama. After this proceed to the hotel & relax. Nearly 3000 years old traditions of weaving and hand loom manufacturing still holds strong among the hand loom weavers of Sri Lanka, who still stand faithful to the ages old designs of weaving that has been handed down through generations. Many of the Sri Lankan handloom manufacturers are home based small holders or self-employed individuals. Here you will visit a small village in Galle located in the Western province where the families are in the Handloom weaving industry. Meet the families and engage with them in the process of handloom, where you will be explained about the material and how they collect it before the weaving process. Then you will engage in the unique traditional weaving machine where you can get hands on experience which is a very fun-loving activity when you practice on it. At the end of the experience you can purchase one of the Handloom products as a support for the local family and as a souvenir for your experience. Visit the Famous Galle fort in the evening & enjoy a walk around the ancient buildings belongs to Dutch era in old Sri Lanka. Galle Fort, the reflection of Dutch era in Sri Lanka. Galle is beautiful city with 300-year-old Dutch fortification built in 1663, covered three sides by the fascinating Indian ocean. Walk in side this fort premises will take you to the antiquity of Dutch era in Sri Lanka.
