The Eastern Of The Riviera And Its Hilltop Villages
Your jaw will drop at the gorgeous view of the Mediterranean from Eze, a charming hilltop town on the Cote d’Azur. It's beautiful cobblestone streets and hot-pink bougainvillea. Shoppers will delight in the many local perfumeries and art galleries. You are welcome to visit the exotic botanic garden, situated in the village, where an impressive collection of cactus, plants and rare vegetation surrounds the remains of an ancient château. At an altitude of 400 m, the summit of the cliff over-looks the sea. It's fantastic! Then we will take the direction of Grande Corniche towards the village of La Turbie renowned for its Trophies des Alpes a commemorative Roman monument dating from 7-6 BC. We enjoy a stop a few hundred meters away for the most beautiful photos stop over 3 countries, Italy, Monaco and the entire French Riviera. Afterwards we will go back inland to visit this typical 11th century village of Peille located at over 600 meters above sea level, with its medieval stone houses piled on a steep hill and surrounded by wooded hills. You will discover medieval chapels, a 13th century church, an oil mill as well as cobbled streets, a vaulted passageway, Gothic fountains and an old castle. Possibility of organizing a picnic for lunch or to find a restaurant in the village. We will continue our journey to the village of Sainte-Agnès at 11 km through a mountain road lined with forests and surprising cliffs. This village is well known for being the highest coastal village in Europe (800 meters above sea level) you will enjoy its breathtaking panorama of the Mediterranean Sea. These medieval streets the remains of a castle dominating the village, and its medieval garden nestling behind the ramparts, not forgetting its Fort south bastion of the famous Maginot Line which attracts the passionate about military history.
