The sacred monkeys of Tafi Atome
The village of Atsiekpoe is todays destination. There are many interesting places on the road, and we recommend visiting the sacred Mona Monkeys and optionally, the pottery women of Fesi. It is also possible that you like to spend the morning in Liati Wote. Just discuss your wishes with the driver. In the village of Tafi Atome, you will experience how the local people live in close harmony with the Lowe’s Mona monkeys. Fesi near Kpando is known for its elegant, hand-moulded pottery, which is said to be the best in Ghana. The pottery is traditionally made by women only, and made in a wholly own style. Atsiekpoe is a picturesque village situated on the green banks of the Volta River. Most houses in Atsiekpoe are built of termite clay with thatched or sink roofing and daily life is centred around the river and its banks. Atsiekpoe village is a welcoming community where you experience authentic day-to-day Ewe village life.

Life along the Volta riverbank
After a night in the village and an immersive morning, we recommend a short journey to Atimpoku where you spend the night in a pretty lodge at the same river Volta. Undertake a guided walk through the friendly partner village of Jolinaiko. You might meet the chief and other community members, see shrimp fishermen at work or visit the kenkey house. Enjoy a local meals in the Cashew Village Lodge and feel free to join the kitchen and learn who the meal is prepared. If you feel like a longer leisurely walk, you can head out into the savannah a bit further and walk to the villages of Kpatamiakope and Kpongkope. During your walk, you can enjoy the views on savannah farmlands and the Volta River. You can close the loop and walk back to Atsiekpoe, or catch a boat upstream. Atimpoku is part of a strip of several small towns and villages along the west bank of the Volta River. It is right beside the Adomi bridge which is seen as the gateway to the Volta Region.

Spending the night in the lovely old wooden building with a veranda in the forest is an experience on its own.

From the bustling city centre to the serenity of the lake
After a lively morning in the city, head out to Lake Bosumtwi. Part of the road to the guesthouse can be in a poor condition, mostly in the rainy season. In that case, they arrange for a boat from Abono to the guesthouse. Visit the Kejetia Market and the Cultural Centre. There is always something going at the Kumasi’s National Cultural Centre. This is where you see craft makers and local artists in their shops using brass, batik, wood and painting for their artwork.

Unwind at Lake Bosumtwi
Lake Bosumtwi is an ideal place to relax and digest all your trip impressions. You can complement your relaxing stay with a beautiful hike. Follow the shores of the lake or venture out into the surrounding hills and cacao plantations.

Journey to the Coast and its History
A half-day journey brings you back to the coastline. The experiences we recommend for today are focused on the dark pages of the world history. The Gold Coast, as the country Ghana was called before Independence, was the epicentrum of the transatlantic slave trade history. End the day at the beach.
