place Hiking Pedra Bonita & Visiting a community social project in a favela

This morning we'll depart to Pedra Bonita, a hill where delta wings take off in the city of Rio. It is a pleasant path that leads to the top of this mountain, 696 meters high, and from where we can get incredible views of San Conrado, Pedra da Gávea, Morro Dois Irmaos, Floresta da Tijuca and Barra da Tijuca. The walk to the top of Pedra Bonita takes an average of 40 minutes. On weekends and holidays, traffic on the free flight ramp road at the beginning of the runway can be intense and make it difficult or delay the car/van to the start of the runway. In these cases, the walk can start at the beginning of the ramp path. In the afternoon, we'll visit a community social project in a favela. Located in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa is an art installation, the Morrinho Project, which is socially important for the community. It consists of a miniature representation on the side of a favela made entirely of painted clay bricks. The project originally started as a children's game, although it was developed in an artistic neighborhood. To get there, our guide will lead us through the streets and alleys of the community, a perfect introduction to the cultural importance of this area and its history of expression and resistance through art. Along the way, we'll pass spectacular viewpoints, where we can see Guanabara Bay and the Sugar Loaf. Once we're at the project we can check out the miniature reconstruction of Rio's favelas, with complex painted streets, 3000 inhabitants, and even police officers. The level of detail is amazing. On our walking tour with the founders of the project, we'll learn more about how this children's pastime became a means of expression for a whole generation of the community. The tour finishes in Laranjeiras, another entrance to this favela, from where we'll return to your accommodation.

Today, after breakfast, we will visit the Iguaçu Falls—recognized among the seven natural wonders of the world, from the Argentinean side. The Iguaçu Falls is the most visited natural attraction in the province of Misiones and one of Argentina's most impressive. Walking paths with different gateways offered by the park provide different views of the falls and their fantastic scenery. The lower circuit offers more contact with nature. In contrast, the upper course provides an overview of all the drops and delta islands, as well as an impressive view of the Garganta del Diablo, where we can feel the fury of water falling in many horseshoe-shaped falls. Still on the Argentinean side, we’ll combine the essence of the Iguazu National Park: jungle and falls in a single ride. We enter the jungle through the Yacaratiá narrow track in units designed for this particular environment, where the natural and cultural richness will be presented along the way. This 5km car ride ends at the forest base Puerto Macuco. Going 100m down we arrive at the dock where we will meet the boats that lead us 6km through the canyon of the lower Iguaçu river towards the waterfalls while enjoying the rapids. We’ll go to the base of Salto Tres Mosqueteros to see the set of Brazilian and Argentine falls, with the Garganta do Diabo crowning the canyon’s view. Then we will reach the peak of emotion when facing the incomparable Salto San Martín, second on the scale and the largest approachable jump by boat. Finally, we land at the dock located in front of San Martin Island, where we will return to the runway system, through the Lower Circuit. After the activtities, we'll return to our accommodation.
