Day 1

Arrival on the island of Sao Vicente, installation in Mindelo.

Day 2

place Ferry to Santo Antao

Today you will take a ferry connection to Santo Antao. Trek from Cova to Vila das Pombas (+ 100m/- 1 200m, 5 to 6 hours walking, approx. 10 km) Welcome by the local guide at the ferry terminal in Porto Novo. Then transfer by private vehicle to the Cova crater. The hike starts along the crater, then a short climb leads to a pass (approx. 1 235m) from where we descend into the Paúl valley, a difference in altitude of - 700m over 2 or 3 km (steep descent...). At the road (540m altitude), a path winding through crops and houses leads to Chã de João Vaz where we take the road again to Passagem, then down to the bottom of the Paúl Valley. Continue walking in the Paúl valley, or in the parallel valley of Figueiral de Paúl, before returning to the road that we take to Vila das Pombas, on the seafront. Then transfer to Ponta do Sol by collectivo. Picnic lunch during the excursion. Free dinner and overnight stay in Ponta do Sol.

Day 3

place Trek from Lagoinha to Caibros

Departure from Ponta do Sol by private vehicle to reach the Corda road in its most spectacular part. The transfer continues along the edge of the Lagoa plateau to Lagoinha where the walk begins on a dusty, almost flat track. From the village of Matinho, the path plunges down the mountainside towards the valleys of Caibros and Chã de Pedras: a descent of about 2 hours through uncharted landscapes, ending at the bottom of the Caibros valley, where we spend the night. Picnic during the excursion. Dinner and overnight stay at the family pension Casa Zeca.

Day 4

place Trek from Caibros to Cha d'Igreja

Departure on foot from Casa Zeca,following the bottom of the Caibros valley to Ambas as Ribeiras, where we cross the Ribeira Grande valley to go up to its other bank. From there, we climb steadily for about 1.5 hours to the pass separating the Ribeira Grande valley from the Mocho valley. After the pass, a steep descent towards the Garça canyon, which we cross to reach the path leading to the village of Chã d'Igreja perched on its edge. Dinner and overnight in Chã d'Igreja, at Casa Mité.

Day 5

place Trek from Cha d'Igreja to Ponta do Sol

Start on foot from Chã D'Igreja: descend to the bottom of the canyon and then climb up to the other bank, which we follow to the village of Cruzinha. Walk for about 40 minutes in a sandy landscape before climbing up the cliffside, between wall and sea. The path follows the coast, on the side of the mountain, overhanging the sea with beautiful passages in the balcony. We pass through the isolated villages of Forminguinhas and Corvo, before reaching the picturesque village of Fontainhas, whose colorful houses seem to be set against the backdrop of the landscape, after a steep climb. Continue walking for a short hour before reaching Ponta do Sol where you spend the night. Free dinner and overnight in Ponta do Sol.

Ferry boat back to Sao Vicente, overnight in Mindelo.

place Half Day Tour of Sao Vicente

Tour of the island of Sao Vicente (1/2 day). Departure for a complete tour of Sao Vicente: Ribeira do Calhau, Calhau village, north-east coast, Baia das gatas village and finally climb Monte Verde, the highest point of the island to admire a unique panorama over the bay of Mindelo and the neighboring islands, Santo Antão and Santa Luzia. Duration: 3h30. Transport included from Mindelo
