Trip Snapshot
Take a once-in-a-lifetime journey to Africa, travel deep into the prehistoric wilderness few have seen and spend ravening moments with the endangered giant apes. You'll fly from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest across southwestern Uganda's Tuscan-like landscape and stay at an exclusive forest lodge high up on a mountain ridge with bewildering landscape views. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a 331-sq-km protected mountain jungle, one of the only two places where the last one thousand endangered mountain gorillas live freely. You'll spend a night in Entebbe before and catch your flight to Bwindi the following morning. You'll join the early morning excursion with local trackers and spend at least half the day in the jungle. The next day, you'll check out the surrounding villages, people, and cultures and leave the remote park on the fifth day by air. Bwindi offers a dramatic, steep and boundless expanse of rolling hills that are incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. You'll also explore the region on food, crossing the jungle on a 7-km trail, walking through local communities and paddling a traditional dug-out canoe across a rift valley lake.
